College of Marin (COM) 2024/25 applicants

Published

Hi! Just wondering if there is anyone here who applied to the COM program for this fall. I did and I'd love to connect with others who are anxiously waiting for news!

I got the same email saying they couldn't offer me a spot b/c my points were too low (bombed the TEAS) , but said they would put me in the pot for the lottery. It is only 4 people though, so I am not too hopeful. I also heard they were accepting 53 students this year then when I heard from the school they said they are still waiting on funding. Who knows, it might come through this year and more people can be offered a spot. Best of luck to us all.

I just got the acceptance letter from COM and I am going to decline the acceptance. Hopefully, someone else can fill my spot. FYI, I have 85 points. Best of luck!

Best of luck to you. I didn't get in COM but got in at SRJC. I accepted, but if I get into COM by chance, I will accept COM since it is much closer to where I live. I heard last year they sent out like 83 acceptances letter to fulfill their 43 spots.

For my cohort, they sent out acceptances up to the week before classes started! So, while that may not be ideal, there's still that 🙂

Also in limbo hoping for enough deferments.  Not sure where I ended up on the points list.

It is definitely more strict than college of Marin. My husband works with two people who just graduated from college of Marin as well and they said it's pretty laid back.

Hi Bekki, can you elaborate on how COM is laid back? What are they laid back about? I'm starting next month!

Hi! I don't have all the details but I know for sure they don't care about painted nails really, they don't make you have a specific brand of scrubs or anything just a certain color and the time commitment seems to be a little bit less than SRJC. They also said compared to people they talked to in the SRJC program the instructors seem a little more laxed. They enjoyed the program! Good luck to you!

OK, thanks for the info!!

Is there a certain score that you need to get to get accepted into the program? I know they have several factors that they have their point system on.

Hi guys do any of you know which hospitals COM partners with for clinicals? Just curious for commuting purposes. Thanks! 🙂

Mostly Sutter Van Ness, Marin Health, Kaisers (but only oaklands outpatient PEDS for my class, and some precepted in Richmond ). Santa Rosa behavioral for psych my year. It can all vary but I'd def count on at least Marin Health and Sutters.

also , sometimes you have a say where you go, sometimes you don't. Be ready to be flexible!
