College of Mainland in Texas City

Has anyone applied for College of Mainland nursing program for Fall 2015?

I spoke to an advisor earlier in the year and she stated that if you have a degree you can opt not to take the TSI test, it will just take a few points away from your admission score. You also get extra points for having a degree so that will help if you decide not to take TSI. I'm going to call and ask if the TSI is a must or not for sure if you have a degree.

@Forshia, yes I believe so because I just spoke to Mr.Moody the nursing advisor & evrything has changed you accumulate a number of points for taking the TSI reading section only which Is added but you get an extra 10 points for having an associates degree which Is a plus.

Okay thanks and let us know...

Have any of yall applied yet?

Not yet. I am finishing up my application to the school and sending transcripts then going through the nursing program admission. I have my prereqs done just need to apply. What all did you submit to apply? Did you do the online orientation?

Yes I applied already...I did the online orientation waited for the link for the application and filled it out...according to Mr. Moody I'm waiting on a email to let me know to submit my shot records

@Kalfrn14 Well I did a few of my pre reques with COM so they had all of my transcripts from the schools I just sat with Mr.Moody, Took the TSI and did the Online Orientation then It just opened up for me to Apply.

@Forshia Have you took the TSI? Let me know what he tells you about the shots please I still have to sumbit mines.

@JaeThoma no I haven't I already have a degree but I'm going to give them a call tomorrow to clarify some info....I'm really confused on this TSI thing

@Forshia Yes that will be the best thing next too going up there, because they never answer the phones.

Hello all! I submitted my application in the middle of march the first day it opened. I was not aware of any TSI reading requirement at that time. I had meet with Mr.moody and he mentioned they had done away with it. I'm a bit confused since I have already done everything needed.:nurse:

I just received an email from an advisor in the nursing and she stated that the TSI reading isn't required to be taken but you will lose admission score points for it. COM is a little far from where I currently live so I plan to take the TSI reading at a college near my home, which she said was fine.
