Has anyone had any experience attending Nursing school at College of the Mainland in Texas City, Texas? I have looked at thier pass rates with the state. How is the program there? Any advice on application/ acceptence?
For utmb my science gps is 3.75 and over all is 3.5. I would sugest that you finish all pre reqs by the time you apply because I'm almost 100% sure that is why I did not get in. I am not sure what my total points were for com but I will try to do that tomorrow. Also I think the reason why there not that many people talking about the com program is because it is smaller and also normally there is only a fall rn program this is the first year that they had a spring rn program. But I definaly think it is a good program!!!
Wow, that's a good score on the point placement system. I think I'll go up to COM today and take that reading portion of the accuplacer to get a better idea of what my score is. I'm estimating around a 127 after the test is taken. Do I have to be a student of COM to take the test? I have not applied to the school yet.
KLIZ-Thanks for the info. I have finished all prereq's and classes for UTMB so it's just a waiting game with them now. Still have to take statistics for UT-Houston.
Just returned from meeting w/ COM. Last two years min App points to get in 103-104. They take top 75 (180 apps) for fall and top 20 (about 100 aps I think) for this spring (will take more after this first spring class). Reading test is now worth up to 40 pnts. Concentrate on taking the science classes (poss 20 pnts each) first.
The advisor said you only need the reading part if you are eligible to take reg coll algebra. I have a degree and asked to make sure. You can take the test two times per semester. The only thing she wanted to ensure i had done was to have application for the college on file. Once the test is done she can move forward on her part putting together EDP. She is the first layer of filter before you start dealing with the nursing program folks.

to kliz- i see you applied to utmb also. that's my #1 choice but i'm afraid that my first 2 years in school may hold me back. i got waaay too many w's during that time. what was your gpa's for utmb?? as of now i have a 3.75 science, 3.68 prereq and 3.0 overall so any information or advice would be great.
