College of the Canyons Fall 2017

Published

Anyone here applying for fall 2017 at COC? I am waiting on my invitation to take the TEAS test and have been studying for it. Anyone care to share their stats?

I have a BA,

3.7 overall gpa

3.8 Bio gpa

I feel like my grades are competitive, but I'm not sure if they're good enough to help me get in. I have a W on my transcript from 12 years ago when I dropped out of microbiology at age 17, and she said that stays on your record which is annoying since I retook it last year and got an A.

Anyway, hoping to find others who are applying for this fall!

Hello! I am lucky enough to start the program this spring! I am wondering if someone could give me a sample of their class schedule? I am trying to weigh through my current employment option to see if I can hang onto my job part time while I go back to school. My current job will have transition opportunity as a flight nurse when I complete the program so it is in good interest to keep my place there. Thank you! I hope your program is going well!

Hello Racer1600. Congratulations on your acceptance!! For the first semester we were on campus Monday - Friday for the first 6 weeks. After that it's Tues and Weds on campus, and Thursdays and Fridays at clinicals. The hours were: Mon & Tues around 4 hours, Weds around 6 1/2 hours, Thus & Fri 6 hours. Good luck to you!!!

Thank you very much for your input! I just attended the orientation and they also confirmed exactly what you said. Looks like it will be really hard to keep my job, which is a bummer, but it will be worth it when school is over. Do you know if the rest of the semesters are 4 days a week? or does it drop to 3 days a week when the clinicals become 13 hour days.

I think the days on campus decrease as you progress in semesters. I know that 4th semester students are only on campus once a week.

Second and third semester you're on campus twice a week and clinical once. Fourth you're one campus and one clinical. You'll also have service learning hours in fourth, I believe it was 12.

Hello everyone! Do you remember if the nursing dept told you what your overall gpa was? Or your overall number of points? Or did you all just calculate your own points based on the multi-criteria screening?

Thank you!!
