I'm taking it this summer, for a 4 week session that starts June 9th. I'm taking intermediate algebra right now for a 3 week session which will end next week. So I'm in for the long haul! lol
Three weeks for Int. Alg.?? Yikes! I did good, but my class was 16 weeks long. My summer session will be 6, and I'm a little frightened about that! We'll get through this...hopefully!
I'm taking Elementary Algebra starting in June (8 week course). But I'm one of the strange ones.... I actually like math and am looking forward to it!
Where are your antennae?? lol My favorite question to ask people who like and "get" math.
I always hated, never got it, always did bad. But this time around, I wanted to understand it, and not just hate the classes I had to take, so I really made an attempt to understand it and studied my tail off. Now I'm actually looking forward to College Algebra...well, as much as I can possibly be looking forward to a math class .
I wish you all sorts of good luck! I also hope you get a teacher like I had. I was terrified of Algebra, and I needed it for the degree. I decided I was going to take it in the evening session, and just not worry about anything else. My instructor was the most amazing woman. She taught me (a math-phobe) how to do it and she changed my perceptions of mathematics. I've since had her for another math course, and I've decided that I really like Math. It's nothing to be afraid of, because it is what it is. There's no intepretation to it. I love it.
Next year, I'm taking Statistics with this woman. I hope I feel the same way when I'm done then!
Anyway, I did the same thing you're doing, with studying and practicing from Algebra for Dummies, as well as Algebra Demystified. I also really liked the Algebra Survivor Guide by Rappoport. It's written for high-school students, and it really made things so much easier to understand.

I'm taking College Algebra at the beginning of summer. Anyone else doing it? I've spent the last 2 semesters doing "math for dummies", and now I'm almost done. I thought it would be nice to have an online study/support group for algebra, since it's my worst subject. I made A's in my last classes, just because I studied so much. But squeezing college-level algebra into 6 weeks is gonna be tough!
