Cochran School of nursing Fall 2020

Published

Hello All!

I noticed that there wasn't a thread for this year so I wanted to start one.

I live in near Hartford, CT and I'm 25 and I want to start a career in Nursing.

I have a BA in Psychology with a low undergrad GPA of a 2.51 ?

So I'm taking the longer route to eventually become a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner.

I do have a high pre-req GPA due to class retakes at several community colleges and I've also completed all of the pre-req requirements too.

Teas score of 76, and experience as Americorps state member at a health education site with 1700 hours.

Im hoping to take the kaplan test soon so any advice would help too! Admissions stated that they would give me a May 19 or 20th test date.

Anyone know when we will hear back from admissions after taking the test?

Also what score is competitive?

Yeah, it’s definitely a rollercoaster ride, all just to get a foot in the door ?

But like so many have already said, we just have to remain hopeful and focused, things will fall into place at the appropriate time.

(I’m saying all of this to encourage myself as well, because when I was told that I can re-apply if I don’t get in this time, I almost had a panic attack at the thought. LOL.)

We’re going to be OK guys - I hope. LOL.

Yea. We got this. Good luck everyone!!!

this has been a 10 yr journey for me! I’ve been told to change career paths by advisers and been denied acceptance without even applying but I keep finding my way. Getting this far is an accomplishment so I'm grateful. You guys are so positive! thank you all! and we got this! god knows our hearts and how bad we want this!

I have been so quiet because the anxiety is too much. The positivity in this blog is amazing, hopefully we all get to meet each other. This experience alone has been hard on all of us. But we will make it. We all have the same goal. So let’s be positive and we are in. They are just taking some time to let us know LOL. If I think like that it makes me feel better. Good luck all and CONGRATS to the ones who got in already.

Have any of you guys applied to other schools? Like college of mount Saint Vincent and Iona college, molloy college?

No I started out my journey with college of new Rochelle got turned away 4 times then they closed and merged with mercy. Then I applied to mercy but transfer students have to wait till a freshman drops out of the program in order to get in. I applied to monte for September 2019 and didn’t get accepted. So I applied to CNS with very little hope for myself since my track record with applying was a little rough loll.

Try it Iona college, if you have your prerequisite done and it’s good, they will most likely let you in. It’s a new program. There is still time.

As for me, I have not because I can only take evening classes because I work at a hospital full time during the day.

Not many schools offer evening classes =(
