I'm starting this thread for everyone applying for COC's spring 2014 RN program. Please feel free to join in. We're all in this together! For anyone who's thinking of applying, the deadline for turning in your transcripts and requesting your prerequisite evaluation is tomorrow!

I'm an LVN hoping to get into the LVN to RN program. I applied last year and received an email notifying me that I qualified for the program but that they didn't have the required 20 qualified LVN applicants to offer the class. Booo hooo hooo... Oh well, I completed all of the General Ed classes in the meantime and have my fingers crossed for this time around :-)

I'm a little nervous about the TEAS V test and am starting to study for it. I read that the test is pretty challenging. Yikes!

I'm not in the bridge program and I haven't received an email yet! It must only be for the bridge students.

Thank you for telling us the advice that the nursing students gave you. I plan to not work the first semester and see how I do and then get a job for the rest of the program. I love working and making my own money, so I hope I'll be able to have at least a part time job for the last 3 semesters.

I just got mine too!!! I'm pretty happy with the schedule...I like it :) I'm at Holy Cross Hospital.

Anyone else having problems accessing the sections numbers on the Spring '14 class schedule catolog online? I can see all subjects EXCEPT nursing. I would just like to see dates and times for clinicals, since the email we received did not seem to mention them.

Update: nvm...the nursing dept has announced that this is a known issue and that they are working on it.

I went into the "express registration" on my canyons and entered in the section numbers and was able to see the times there :)

Are you at Holy Cross also?

On the Dove Apparel website it says, "My Clinical Start Date: Mon, Feb 10 2014" and "Bill & Ship Date: Mon, Jan 27,2014." On my schedule it says my first clinical is on 2/4. Is anyone starting clinical on or after 2/10? If they don't ship out the uniforms until 1/27 I can't imagine how I'm going to be able to find someone to hem the pants and sew on the patches by 2/4 :-O

2dawn are you in the bridge program? It was my understanding that clinicals do not start until a month or two after we start the program, at least for the RN program.

Yes, I'm in the bridge program. We have twenty students in the class and we will all be in the same theory class and will be separated into two groups of ten students each for the clinicals. We all have the same instructor, we just have a different day of clinicals depending on which hospital we were assigned to. Half of us have clinicals on Tuesdays and the other half has clinicals on Fridays. The instructor seems to be very detailed and on point. In the original email that she sent the classroom and clinical dates were not in order so she sent a follow up email to inform us that our first day of classroom would be 2/3 to make sure that everyone understood the schedule. I'm quite concerned that I won't be able to have my uniforms ready in time for my first clinical. What date is listed for your first clinical?

I contacted Dove Apparel and they told me that I need to contact the nursing department and have the nursing department call them to change the date of our first clinical. The Allied Health office is closed until 1/2 :-/ I really don't understand why they won't ship out the uniforms until two weeks before our first clinical date...

2dawn, I don't believe our schedule tell us when our clinicals start... RN students please correct me if I'm wrong, I only see where our clinicals are NOT when.

As far as I know we need our uniforms for the skills lab and clinicals. So I believe we need the uniforms with the patches by the first skills lab date, which is shown on the schedule that the teachers emailed us.
