CNM and WHNP dual program

Published

Does anyone know of any good online schools that offer certified nurse-midwifery and woman's health nurse practitioner in the same program? And if they offer a post-masters certificate option that'd be even better! I'd really love to get both certifications at the same time but I don't want to spend a fortune going to Georgetown. Thanks!

A CNM can do everything a WHNP can do, plus catch babies. I can't think of anything to gain by having both. Is there a specific reason you want both? I would think a better dual cert would be CNM and FNP if you want a broader knowledge base.

I've also thought that CNM/WHNP and psych NP would be a useful combo, at least for the pt population i take care of. Women often struggle to find psychiatric/addiction care during pregnancy, which is a time when many need it most.

Wow that's a very good point, I actually love that idea about the psychiatric/addiction part. You have actually given me something to think about, thanks! ?

I actually know a CNM who is also a PMHNP and works for an addictions center for pregnant women. Such a cool, unique role, although so narrow that it might be difficult to find a job everywhere.

Frontier is just extra clinicals for the WHNP portion. I know UCSF has a dual program, but I don't think it's online.
