CNA training

Published

Hello! Currently I am taking a CNA training and I am preparing to take the exam (Tampa, FL). I learned that there is 35min skilltest and I will be assigned to perform 3skills+handwash+indirect care. Within the skill test, my teacher told me that the most difficult portion of the skill is Bedbath. I think I agree with it. But here is my question. When I researched about portion of bedbath skill test, I learned there is "partial Bedbath." However, my teacher told in my class that exam will be "Full Bedbath" so we must learn all about bedbath. Of course, I prefer to be trained to be able to perform full bedbath, and not just partial. But, I really need to know for the matter of the exam, it will be partial or full bedbath.

I really appriciate if you can answer the question, and how was your skill test went if you have done recently.

Thank you!!!

I'm going to assume that by partial she meant one side of the body and full as both sides plus, offering the bedpan.

I know when we did our skill testing for the class and when we do our state testing we just do partial and tell them we would do the exact same thing on the other side.

Bedbaths really aren't that hard, You just need to remember the order you go in.

I dont think any of my classmates got bedbath on the test, but when we were going over the skills review it was for a partial bed bath, not a full. You only have 25 minutes for the skills portion of the test; performing a full bed bath would take way too much time.

Here in NC, a partial bed bath is hand, arm, pit, and torso.

We had to learn the complete bed bath in class but for the exam, it was the partial.

I took my CNA exam in Michigan a week ago, so I dont know how much it differs from FL. One of the skills I got was partial bedbath. I just had to wash face on down to chest, along with arms and back. No legs or peri. I also had to perform a backrub after washing the back, and change hospital gowns on the resident, which in my case was a manikin. This was all part of the partial bedbath skill. It probably varies by state though. I thought the station was easy, but then again I had already done this several times for real during clinicals. Hardest part about the exam was making sure I didnt forget any indirect skills.

Thanks everyone. I am still waiting for a letter for test date and location. I talked a woman who just took CNA test. She told me she didn't hear anyone even got bedbath part. She had bedpan, measuring scale, and ambulation. I keep practicing!

Hi masami. How did your test go? I am taking the test in Miami in about a week. I am a challenger. What is the skills portion like? Do they set the supplies for you or do you have to get them yourself? Did you get the bedbath? Thats the one I am worried about the most. On the prometric paper it only says face, neck, arms, chest, and back...
