Hi, I am new to this site. My CNA cert has expired and just need to retake the test, so I do not have an instructor I can ask a question to. I have looked in the manual and the book and it doesn't state if you weigh the person with or without shoes. The video doesn't show the patient getting on the scale. Shoe on or off? Thanks Marianne

I think the text book answer is having shoes off because they are not part of the body weight.

depends on facility policy. I do not think there is a set rule for it. I know where I worked it was on shower day, with nothing on, before breakfast.
Thanks

I finished my class in November and passed my test in January. The first thing we were told to do was make sure the scale was zeroed out. Then, make sure the resident had shoes on and were tied securely.
Good luck on your test!

if the pt is ambulatory then leave their shoes on. if they're non- ambulatory then it doesn't doesn't really matter, but you have to be consistent. same thing every week,
