Has anyone taken the New Jersey exam? If so, how long did it take you to get the results in the mail for the skills portion?
I had an interview today and pretty much got the job (at an AMAZING facility ), pending me passing my exam. Once I get the results for my skills portion, I can then register to take the written portion. If you pass the written portion, you get your license on the spot. I just wanted to see how long on average it takes to get the results to the skill portion in the mail in NJ. Hopefully someone out there in allnurses land knows! :heartbeat
No NJ CNA's out there? ANY info will be much appreciated!

It takes about 2 weeks or 10 business days. It will say you passed the skills portion and can take the written portion. As soon as you get it, call up to schedule your test. I took the skills test on around October 10, had the results by October 23rd, and took the test about a week later. Here is a copy of a practice exam (if you don't already have one)
Good Luck!

Hi There. Good luck with the new position. Where is this amazing facility? It's not often we hear a facility described as amazing.
Thanks! It is actually one of Meridian Health's rehab/ltc facilities, in Monmouth County. The place is only two years old, huge rooms, very clean, flat screen TV's in every room, large, nice bathrooms with showers... I could keep going on but I will stop, lol. They have good ratios, good patient care, and for the most part, friendly staff. I have been told by many people to go there, but never though I would actually get in. I mean, I am sure there will be some faults and problems, like anywhere, but it does seem to have a lot going for itself so far.
So can you tell us how your experience is so far at this facility? I"ve heard good things about Meridian compared to others and wanted to see if you feel the same. I was thinking about applying.
I actually still haven't started. I was waiting for my state exam, which I finally took and passed yesterday! I have my pre-employment physical tomorrow and I should start orientation in a couple of weeks. I will keep you posted!
From what I have heard, Meridian does have good facilities. I actually did hear not so hot things about the one in Brick though. The application process takes a while, so you just have to be on top of them. I have actually heard it is faster if you go to the facility you are interested in to fill out an app, instead of the corporate offices or online.
Good luck!

What are CNA salaries in NJ? I'm from NJ but living in fl for 5 years and got my fl state license in march of this year
Starting out, brand new, you can make about $10-11/hour, plus any shift differentials.
That's terrible for NJ since the cost of living is way too HIGH! I can get the same salary here in Fl
Yeah, I know. Luckily its just me, no husband or kids yet. I figured its good experience while in nursing school. I will have to make do for a few years. It will be tough, but worth it.
