Do you know any CNA schools that have accelerated, evening program and how much they cost? I called Emmanuel School of Nursing today and it seems expensive, over 1600$.
Thanks!

Central AZ College doesn't have an accelerated one but they do have a nights and a weekend Saturday option. Although classes don't start again until the fall I think. I currently am attending the Sat class.

hey - i was just looking/calling the schools listed on the azbn list of aproved progrms. the best one (so far that i can tell) is rsaa training institute in mesa. it costs $850 and it covers everything except for the state boards exam and some scrub pants pretty much. they take care of the fingerprinting/cpr too. next evening class starts april 21st-may 30th with the boards on june 15/16 i think she said (though this i'm not absolutely positive on). it's 5-10pm m-thursday through may 30th. the last week - whether you get it in week 5 or week 6 (they split the class into two groups) - is when they do the clinicals and those are 1p-10p m-thurs. you have to get your doctor's note before registration i believe is what the girl told me last week - just saying you're healthy enough etc. she also said you can do 50/50 on the fee - 1/2 when you register and the other 1/2 about the 2nd week of the program. she was very helpful with her information. but this is just what i'm recalling from my memory of speaking with her, their # is 480 835 7679; and the website is http://www.rsaatraininginstitute.com/ although you'll get more info by calling.
i am strongly considering this program because of location, times, recommended by mcc advisors when they said they didn't have an evening program, cost, and the cna in the nursery where i volunteered said she did it here too.
but thanks for posting the cost of this one because i was going to call and find out :)

thanks a lot! however, rsaa is too far for me as i live on the north side. i cannot afford to travel to mesa. i will be taking cna class, working full time, taking apii, eng101, hcc130 and hcc145.
i went yesterday to emmanuel and i will start by the end of this month. i paid close to 1700$. they too include cpr in their program. i wonder, though, why is there so much difference in pay between these schools.

RSAA Has a weekend program....did you hear about that? You would only have to make that trip on Sat/Sun which is better than all week long.....and I thought they were in Tempe? to save $700 I think it would be worth it....
Yeah, but on Saturday I am in school for 6 hours (BIO202). This is going to be so much fun, working full time, going to CNA school in the evening, and taking 4 classes (3 online, and BIO202 in person).

Glina,
Why are you taking HCC 130 and 145? I don't believe that they are required for MCCCD nursing program and know for sure that ASU doesn't use them. Just tryin to lighten your load. A&P 202 isn't easy, I took online twice to get a C.
I want to apply for LPN Fast Track at Gateway and that's why I need to take those two classes and CNA.
I took BIO156 online, and I will never take another science class online.
WOW THAT IS ALOT!!!!!
I know it's a lot. I will take a week off from work during clinical and also two days off prior to one of my BIO202 tests. I always study just a few days before test. I will have every Wednesday and Sunday off so I can study. CNA class is only 5 weeks. I'll survive...NOT!
i am so disappointed. i wanted to apply at gateway fast track lpn. i am taking hcc130 and hcc145aa, and i will start cna school on 3/31. my cna school will end on 5/2. however, they told me that application due date for lpn ft is 5/7. i will not have time to schedule board exam and get the actual cna certification by 5/7. they also told me that i need certification because emmanuel school of nursing is not a part of gateway cc. did any of you need to get actual cna certification in order to apply? ah, i wanted this so badly.
well - i think if you look on the program listing for the fast track you'll see it's an "or" situation: either have you already have your cna (which i would assume is the certification) or take the cna program @ one of the community colleges. but maybe they'll have another one that starts in the spring? in the meantime you can probably continue with other nursing pre-reqs if you're heading for the rn. but the fast track definitely requires fewer credits.
but just think of the medical terminology and fundamentals of healthcare delivery as added knowledge. :) i actually hope to take them this summer - i was considering the same route you were but my class definitely wouldn't be finished in time.
i'm just hoping to get through a cna program, get licensed, work on pre-reqs and then hopefully not wait forever to get into a program. if all goes well i should have all the pre-reqs finished by the end of next spring semester. after that it's just a waiting game. :)
good luck!
