State exam tomorrow!!!

Nursing Students CNA/MA

Published

I'm so nervous. I know all my skills but I always mess up when I'm getting tested. We will be performing the skills on our class mates and I'm bad with acting like the class mate is my resident. I hope it will be over soon and I won't have to wait too long. I also hope that I will be lucky and get the easy skills.

Do I have to do the opening procedure everytime I start a new skill? For example, I brush the residents teeth and then I have to walk him? And also....I can put the laundry bag at the foot of the bed or the chair but what about the plastic/trash bag? Can I leave it on the floor?

I'm coming up with all those questions now :p. It always happens when I get nervous. I hope the RC person will be nice

Still........can you pray for me please ............

I'll definitely pray for you! :saint:

I hope you pass the exam with flying colors.

Bebi,

My prayers are with you girl!! I wish I was as far as you are with mine. Heck, I haven't started with mine yet. I currently work in the ER Business office. I love it but I am also taking my pre-reqs for RN. I would love to be an RN one day but I think I'd be a better one if I were a CNA first. Don't you think? I have checked around with the schools here and they only do the night classes and that's where the problem is, I work from 6:30p till 5:00a. So that knocks that in the head. I have been thinking about just putting in my transfer for a CNA on one of the floors but I don't know. My hubby wants me on day shift. I've tried to tell him that I'll just have to go right back to nights if I get accepted into the nursing program next fall. So what good would that do? I could use this time to get trained for CNA and not have to pay for it!! Well, enough about me, I know you have your own worries!!! Good luck tomorrow and God Bless!!! My prayers are with you!!! I have an A&P 2 test coming up on Thursday, so if you don't mind, say a little prayer for me!! LOL.....let us know how you do ok!! I think you'll do great!! Just think positive!!

Thank you for the prayers Commuter and Konnie .

I passed the exam. I can't be too happy yet, cause I still can't believe it. I had to do handwashing, nail care, ROM lower body, and urinal. I thought I messed up on something, but I couldn't think of anything. After waiting and a lot of headache I found out that I did everything perfect :yelclap:

How are the pre-reqs going? That is my next goal beside getting a job as a CNA. I want definitely to make this experience before becoming RN. And I also think that CNA is a job that would make me happy, that's why I did it.

I want to find a job where I can work the day shift. My husband is in the military and we already don't have much time together.:o

I will pray for you

Congrats on passing the exam!

Going great!! I'm actually heading out right now to take my A&P 2 exam, so if any of you are online right now, say a prayer for me please!! Thanks in advance!! I need it!! I'll keep you posted! Congrats Bebi!!!! I knew you could do it!!!

First, write down all the questions that you have like the one about the trash. Before you start your exam you can ask the evaluator any question you want. Since I don't know what state you are in I don't know what testing agency you have so I can't

be more detailed in helping you on test day.

Take a few deep breaths before you go in. Deep breathing really helps to calm and focus you. I know it can be hard to pretend someone you know well is a resident you are caring for and some people giggle when they are nervous or selfconscious. I don't know how to help you with that other then practicing on a family member like you were in the test room and see how you do.

Dress in scurbs (unless you were told differently) you look professional. Tie long hair back and take off jewlery(all these things might get in your way). Be sure to be on time!!

Say the worst happens, in most states you can take it again so don't make it the end of the world. YOU CAN DO THIS. If you have to take it again I can almost guarantee you that you will pass because you will know what to expect so your nerves will be less. Some people have such a fear of failure that they give up or worse never try at all. You are moving forward, feel good about that! You are not going to quit, feel good about that! And because of that you WILL make it. Good Luck, I know you can do it!

Thank you everybody.....

How did your exam go, Konnie?

Thank you for the great posting Avery. I see that you live in Colorado Springs. My husband and I will be moving there around May. How is the job market for starting CNAs there? All I can see is that they want 1 year experience. :/

The hospitals always say they want experenced people until they get desperate. We tell our students if they have trouble getting work to come and see us. We never have anyone come in and say they can't get work. There are plenty of places to work even

if you have no experence. After 6 months you can start looking for a better job that wants experence. I don't think you will have trouble.

I made a B!!!!!!!!!! I'm sooooo excited!!!! I'll take that B with a big 'ol smile:yelclap:Thanks for all the prayers everyone! Good luck Bebi!!!!
