Hey Gals and Gents,

I wanted to know how I could get a CNA job in Baltimore working in the area hospital. I know the job market is tight, but I will have my bachelors degree in biology by the end of may and will be entering nursing school in fall 2011. I also have 3+years experience working at an assisted living (sunrise and emeritus). Ive applied to the university of maryland medical center and several other area hospitals. None of which have contacted me back yet. I know most places want hospital experience but how am i suppose to gain this experience is I dont get hired first? Is anyone familar with the recruitment/hiring process? Can you give me any advice as far as what I can do to boost my credentials. THANK YOU IN ADVANCE!!!

I wish I could help, but I'm in the same boat :( I've tried just about every hospital in the state of md it seems like, but no one ever calls me back. So for now I'm just staying put in ltc. I sometimes feel that they (the recruiters) don't seem to value my experience in ltc/assisted living either. Right now I'm in my first semester of nursing school, and I was going to try and apply again to hospital pct positions after I complete med-surg. Maybe you might want to try that as well? Sorry, that's probably not the advice you wanna hear :(

thanks for your reply. any advice at this point is valued. good luck in applying for jobs

Last I heard Mercy Medical Center is still hiring. You can call the main line and ask for Beverly, the nurse recruiter (go right to the source). They prefer you to put your actual application in online.
