CNA tution reimbursement

Nursing Students CNA/MA

Published

I am reading the NY handbook and it states if hired by a nursing home as a CNA within 12 months of certification you can show them your program and exam receipts upon being hired and the state will reimburse monies to them to compensate you. It may not cover all of it though.

So has anyone actually done this and got reimbursed?? very curious.

Thank you!

I've heard that before, on this board. None of my coworkers seem to know anything about it though. My facility certainly never said anything. I bet they keep the money.

wow, noone huh?

I even clarified this was true by calling Prometric and it is. I guess I will be bringing reciepts with me once I get offered a job..had an interview today so fingers are crossed! :-)

Thanks for the response Fuzzywuzzy:D they can't keep any money from the state if they don't submit receipts from the newly hired CNA, who has to supply it.

Yes I have just finished the course in Pennsylvania and I was given a paper typed up by the college that says it is the original reciept and only valid reciept that I had paid $699 with my check number and I am to give that to my employer who is then responsible to reimburse me half after working 130 hours and then the second half after working the next 130 hours. I actually took the exam today and the red cross "admission ticket" even said that you are to be reimbursed the cost of training and testing ($102). However, I do not know anyone who has done this but I really haven't asked.
