CNA Loans or Scholarships?

I don't know where you are? I am from California, and I took my CNA course through a program called WERC. They paid everything for me I didn't put a Pennie out of my pocket. (their requirements were to live within the LA area and to be from a low income family) they are a nonprofit organization and receive Grands to provide scholarships to people like me. But you should also check at the Work source centers they have programs for younger adults. Specially if you are between the ages of 21-26 years old, and sometimes they even paid you to take the course, they called like experience paid program or Internship program.

a community college offering a cna course is an option . . . this route will allow you to get state and federal financial aide grants.

go to "fafsa online" and fill out the electronic application, fafsa will determine---based on the information on your application---if you qualify for aide.

There are a lot of facilities that will train aides on their premises, and offer you a job. The course is free, but you have to work for them at least a year, if not you will be responsible for paying them back the cost of the course. Check with your board of nursing, they should have a list of facilities that train CNA's. Mainly the places I know that train aides are all owned by Genesis Healthcare or Communicare.

Here in WA CNA courses/programs are not covered by financial aid which means no grants, loans or scholarships. However there are programs through DSHS like work source and work first that will pay tuition and fees. There are also school specific grants like the Opportunity Grant that pay for tuition, fees, books and supplies. I recieved the opportunity grant and am very appreciative for it. I think that prehaps in CA or other states that have community college tuition/fee waivers the CNA course might be covered. Good luck finding funding for your education!

here in Ohio I used a program call WIA through jobs family services and it also paid for 2 uniforms and cheap shoes and watch..

I'm not sure about other states but I know that in Oregon there is a place called "WorkSource Oregon" and they will help pay for some peoples CNA courses.

I looked for training programs in my area then checked to see if they had a website. It ended up that the school I went to had a grant available from my tribe (I'm Native American-Chickasaw) so they paid for everything.

The community colleges here take a good 3 months or so compared to the CNA training schools here that take 2 weeks to a month.

I would find out where you can take the class and call to see if they have any kind of financial aid available.
