A very high percentage of these internet scams originate overseas. While calling the police and the BBB may be good ideas, there is likely very little that can be done since 1. These "companies" aren't real and just change their name on a whim. 2. Overseas accounts with wire transfers are extremely difficult to trace to a real person. The best thing you can do is educate yourself and others and report these scams to Craigslist when you see them.

There are legit job postings, usually by small local companies seeking to fill a position without paying the fees associated with a nationwide online service. I advertised for a nurse once, got a few responses, nothing great

Friend of mine once found a low level outside sales job that eventually led to promotions, relocations, good money.

Just like anywhere else, you just need to be cautious and use common sense. And run away from any one who wants to blindly send you money...even though they never even met you.

Give them NOTHING!!!!!!! It's SCAM!!!!!!!!!!

You haven't sent them any information like SS# or bank numbers/statements? Report to the Attorney General's office of your state

Would never even think about looking for a job on Craig's list.

Not all job postings are scams. Our local Community Health Center posts jobs on craigslists. But I understand your POV and it's too bad that the bad apples make it bad for the legit ones.

If you gave them anything like your SSN or address you just opened yourself up to identity fraud and in the nursing world, that's very dangerous because it can stop and hinder your pursuit to becoming an RN or anything higher than a CNA. If someone else uses your SSN and works and the IRS sees that, that's a whirlpool of trouble because it'll look like tax evasion when the income isn't reported at the end of the year. You better start taking the necessary steps so that 2 years from now you don't wind up in a mess.

And giving our your bank information before you even meet someone face to face is next to crazy. At best you need to educate yourself in the ways of the internet because you'll be the one who faces the consequences. I understand that you were looking for work, but of course it sounded too good to be true. People here can only feel sorry for you and not really help you. Giving out information like that is a gold mind to these scammers and dangerous too. Good luck sorting out the mess and hopefully it doesn't come back two years from now to bite you.
