Ah hahhhhh!!!! So that's why you asked about becoming an EMT or phlebotomist... hmmmm...
It IS more difficult to find work as an LPN outside of the LTC setting, but jobs ARE still available.
I work at Ephraim McDowell in Danville... not TOO terribly far from Frankfort... I work in Med/Surge and we hire a *LOT* of LPN's on my unit. That might be an option for you.
I used to work at Frankfort Regional, and in the past couple of years it's been hard to get hired there *period* because turnover for the whole hospital is pretty low... but keep an eye out in the newspapers; they do hire LPN's in their ER and their endoscopy department, and they probably also use them in the OR.
There's also doctors offices.
Anyway... good luck!
Oooh... are you interested in psych? You could work at Eastern State or Central State. Lots of opportunities at those places for LPN's, as well.
I've also worked at Central State... I loved it there; had to leave because the benefits actually weren't that great and it was getting to be too much of a drive. I have heard that the benefits at Eastern State are a bit better and I have considered, off and on, going there to work.

I have just finished the CNA program and have applied to JCC LPN program. I have no desire to work in ltc. I live in Frankfort and have applied to every hospital from Lexington to Lousiville and no one will even respond to me. Any suggestions?
