CNA I Student Clinicals-question

Hey guys. I am about to start my CNA I class I HAVE to take to get into the nursing program for my school. My question is, what are clinicals like? Did you get to choose the date/times you did rotations/hours? Did you have to do 12 hr clinicals or less? I just want to get a feel for what I am in for. I am a mom of 2 kids who go to preschool, with a husband whose work hours are constantly changing since hes a cop, and I am nervous about having time for clinicals and if this is even a realistic career choice for me and my situation. For me, we had set days and times each week we did our clinicals they never varied. So, I knew exactly what I was doing, where, and when. They were for 6 hours each. Your school should have this info in the syllabus if not definitely call/email the teacher!

Are you curious what to expect in clinicals in terms of direct patient care as well?

Same here, we have set days and times. I am in a class of 30 and it is a CNA/HHA course from August 26 - November 27. She divided our class into two groups and group A is Monday/Tuesday 7-3 and group B is Wednesday/Thursday 7-3. We are only actually doing clinical from 7 to about 11 am and then we have lunch. After lunch we meet for more theory and she teaches us the skills the way they want it at state test. I am in California so they just changed some things. I have noticed that some of the CNA's that we work with do things a little differently than in the book so it is good to practice how they will want it at state test. Best of luck to you!

My program was theory up front, then clinical and the clinical's were on set days, mostly weekends to accommodate everyone. Morning to 2 and if you missed a day, she was willing to make it up with you but she was pretty tough.

I'm in GA. We haven't done clinicals yet but it's 3 days, 8 hour shifts, at the end of November. I'm a little nervous but also excited.

My CNA class has set clinical hours for Saturdays 7am-3pm for 6 weeks. It's a class of 40 divided into two classes, then it will be further subdivided into four groups at two clinical locations.

Mine was an "evening class". We had 3 hours of clinicals in the evening. It really depends on your school.
