CNA exam in 2 days; Really nervous & unsure of myself...

Hello everyone!

As the title says, my exam is in 2 days and I'm not so confident in myself with the skills part of the exam. I'm one of the last in my class who hasn't taken the exam yet and I don't want to be the only one who fails...

I've been studying and studying and studying, trying to remember what supplies I need and the critical points for each skill.

But, I have really bad test anxiety and I'm afraid of blanking out during the exam.

I'm located in Hawaii and I was wondering if anyone else had taken their exam here? How is the process? I've asked my classmates about the examination process but their explanations were so vague and unhelpful.

Any words of advice or encouragement would be so helpful.

~Aloha!

I am taking the clinical part tomorrow! Same day as you. :) I failed the clinical part, but passed the written part; it wasn't that bad. As for the clinical part, pretend that nobody is around you.. just your actor. Take your time !! Always make sure that the resident is safe, etc.. like locking bed before raisin the bed.. position the resident.. etc. basically, make sure you study the indirect care. That's important... also, if the resident has an affected side.. take your time there to make sure it is the correct affected side. Undress with the strong side and Dress with the weaker side first and keep her covered.. don't completely expose. :) Good luck! I am thinking positive and I will make sure to pretend that the tester .

I PASSED! :D It was very nerve wrecking, but I knew I had to remain calm & focused. Our proctors always reminded us to breathe. Hahaha.

Thanks EduardoLugo for replying! I hope you passed as well!

I am happy you passed what skills did you have to perform!

Thanks! Our state's mandatory 3 skills were: handwashing, taking BP, & transferring with gait belt. (I'm not sure if this is the same for other states?) My 2 random skills were: taking oral temp & brushing dentures.

I was so relieved when I got those 2 because I usually have the worst luck. Murphy's Law almost always applied to my situtations. I was dreading that I might have to do peri care & making an occupied bed. I'm glad the exam is finally over! Now... time to find a job...
