CNA Course

Has anyone ever taken a CNA course that was taught at a nursing home instead of in the traditional classroom?? The class is taught by a teacher from a technical school. I signed up for a class next month and just wanted to know what to expect??

Way back when I started CNA work we didn't have to be certified and there was NO type of formal training, just "on the job". After being a NA for about 4 years though I changed employers and they made me take their class. This was done right there at the nursing home. It was mostly learning how to assist residents with ADLS like bathing, feeding, walking, dressing, and how to chart on the flow sheets. I'm not sure what exactley the classes are like nowadays as things have changed so much. Most of the nursing homes where I live have training right there at the facility though. Good Luck to you, I LOVED my years working as a CNA and hope you do too!!

I took my CNA course at a nursing home and it was a great experience. We did our clinicals with the same residents that we worked with once we completed the course, so it was an easy transition.
