Clovis Community College this fall

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Is anyone else taking online classes at Clovis this fall? I am planning on taking Microbiology, AP 1, Oral Communication, and Ethics - all will be online. Not only is it the best price, but it's the only school I could find with no AP pre-reqs. (Ocean County in NJ said they could waive the pre-reqs, but with lab pacs, that one class was over $1000, and AP 2 was a prereq for micro!)

Just wondering how your courses went. I didn't see microbiology online this semester though. Wonder if they cut it?

Last semester there was a scheduling conflict so they cancelled the course. I loved the chem class. Professor ****** was a great instructor. I have microbio online at Clackamas Community College with * ******. Alot of work but very doable. Lab kit is included and California and washington are considered instate for this Oregon CC. Total cost for microbio is about 500 plus books.

hey newbie...

I found out that as long as the college is regionally accredited, the classes online are fine. This includes WASC and others in various regions. Oregon is accredited by another regional agency but treated just the same as WASC. Hope this helps.

Socal Nursing.

Thanks for the Clackamas info. I'm definitely going to look into it. I was going to do micro at Ocean County in NJ but just the lab kit, microscope, and lens cost upwards of $500.

my classes went great!! I'm taking AP2 and Intro Chem this Spring 2010. I'll be taking the 5 week Micro w/lab this summer. All of the science classes are offered each semester, and all are online.

Yes, you need a microscope, but you might be able to buy one second hand or share. I already had one, so that wasn't a cost for me. The lab kits are really the only way you can do labs at a distance. It's very techno- meaning there is a ton of computer guidance and even virtual cadavers. We must take digital photos of everything, upload them and label them. This term, I'm buying a camera that attaches to my microscope for the histology pics. *I homeschool my kids, so this is really fun for all of us, and the supplies will be used on them for science. I recognize the cost is high, but I'm sharing the learning with my high schooler as part of his biology- so I justify it in that way.

Anyway, online science has been really interesting! The work load is heavy, (for example, if you don't turn in a weekly lab you simply fail- no zeros for labs) but the quizzes and tests are open book, so it's some good with bad.

Hi heartbeats...I will upload a copy of the syllabus for u to view... Lots and lots of work... So far in a week and a half.. I seriously have completed 8 assignments + reading. By the way... save even more money... use the5th ed text book. instrctor can provide a reading list for that edition... just buy the lab book only. =D hope that helps.... by far this is the cheapest online microbio class.

Was online micro on the schedule this semester? I didn't see it at all.

no, i didnt see it either. so that's when i went on a frantic search for a microbio class. I applied for a graduate school for the coming fall and if they admit me, this class was pending and admission would be contingent on this class.

So cal
