I've looked in hospitals but I'm willing to get a job in a clinic or nursing home, which people keep recommending, but I have looked on craig's list and pretty much sent in for dr.'s offices but none of the drs offices have called me back. Where are all the clinics? I don't see any advertised and if I did I probably already applied, so which clinics do you work at?

wow, amazing. Yea, I'm applied for my New Jersey license and starting to look there as well. I am starting a BSN program at Hunter so I can't really go to florida yet. I am actually from new jersey but wanted a program that wasn't all online and most of the program in jersey are so I looked at nyc schools. Anyways, the board of nursing in new jersey said it could take up to 12 wks to get a license. I will keep looking though. Kind of wish I applied in florida now lol.

Well, I would recommend calling places maybe. I emailed myself this number to a nursing home and called up and going for an interview tomorrow. I think it's better to have some experience rather than none.

Any chance you'd be willing to share the names of some nursing homes you've had luck at? I've been calling around and amazing even nursing homes are asking for previous experience! I am a newly licensed BSN with 3 years hospital experience as a CNA, but even that doesn't seem to provide much help.

I didn't look at a specific name. I only got one interview so far. I've noticed that too actually about the nursing homes here in NYC, NJ is more open so you should def look there. I found one nursing home willing to interview new grads and that was thru craig's list I just read every ad and emailed all (and I mean ALL) the ads. This nursing home just had a phone number though. This is the first interview I've gotten (besides for that sketchy clinic).

Hi guys. I'm working now as a LPN in a pediatric clinic and was recently offer a job at a nursing home. The nursing home is offering $25 whereas the clinic was paying me $22. Monday-Friday 9-5 was my schedule at the clinic with all holidays off and no weekends. However, I want to gain more experience in the nursing home setting for future plans. Is it worth the move?

Are you going back to school for RN eventually?? $25 and hour is pretty good for LPN I think. Which clinic are you at? I guess you get more hands on experience in nursing home maybe, I would like a clinic atmosphere better I think, but money is kind of important I guess and $4 more is pretty food.

I'm currently working at a clinic in upper manhattan Ny. I'm stuck in making a decision because the nursing home wants me to start orientation this Wednesday which leaves me with no time to give my employer notice. I am planning on going back to school for RN next April at this fast track program.

can you tell me the name of the clinic? I would like to look there if they're hiring RN's. Yea, that's kind of strange to me. It's common courtesy to give notice but I guess they have an immediate need. I don't know what to tell you, but just look at what you would be doing at both, at which one you think would be best for your resume and experience I guess.

Boriken neighborhood health center. They are hiring RNs actually at the moment. They just moved into a new building and are looking for RNs. You can call them and find out who to send your resume to. 2122896650. Good luck. Btw don't be discouraged with the area :/

Thanks, I'll call tomorrow. Their site doesn't have any careers listed but there is an e-mail. Good luck and let me know what you decide with the nursing home.

That clinic is in East Harlem (Spanish Harlem). I'm from Jersey and I commute to work daily.
