It's week 8 and we start clinicals this week! I'm nervous, excited, scared and prepared... all at once.
Anyone want to share about their first few weeks at clinicals? If you've been, what to expect, mistakes you've made, things you've learned, disappointments or achievements... if you haven't, how are you feeling?

It is amazing! Because you get real experience from clinicals. It's not the same reading it in the book and actually seeing it. Try to get a positive experience and don't be afraid to ask questions. Remember that all nurses were once students.😄ðŸ‘ðŸ¼

Take any and all learning opportunities. Pick your nurse's brain and ask them WHY they are doing what they do. Good luck!

Also be mindful of the staff nurses' time. They likely have very little time for having their brains picked. The vast majority of your questions should be directed toward your clinical instructor.

I learned to gauge my nurse's personality. I often end up with quiet, reserved nurses and think they hate me but find out that they're just not a really social person. It certainly made me not take things too personally.
Also, I always look for ways to help the staff. I offer to answer call lights or help with ADLs if the nurse or CNA has a pt that needs assistance. And if you're going to ask questions, do it at appropriate times.
