Clinicals Acceptance Letter: What should I "brush up" on?

Published

Hi Sister & Brother Nursing Students!

I just rec'd my acceptance letter for Fall 2011 Clinicals.

What information from A&P and Microbiology will I reference most frequently?

I plan to spend the next few months really brushing up on my knowledge.

My first thought is hormones and glands, I figure they are very important to know...

What else?

Thank you!

I would l brush up on major dieases and medical conditions. While facts on how the body digests carbs or how the lungs actually do their job. It is how to care for and wounds, and trachs, IV's and G tubes, and how to recognize when a patient is declining and knowing how to care for them that are the basics. Of course, I don't know which clincial you are attending. If it is your first clinical you will learn and practice more basic things, remember to keep clean things clean, and sterile thing sterile.

Thank you so much! I appreciate your help! My first clinicals are in Family Health (I believe first clinical rotations are in a Nursing home, I'm a CNA, thank goodness I'll have a little clue as to what I am doing...I think...LOL)

Dont worry too much about "studying" right now but do review any areas you struggled with in the past. Also, try to enjoy the free time you have cause you'll be missing it once school starts!
