I was recently expelled from an LVN program at a city college. I was wrongly accused of making copies from a medical chart and was told that I violated HIPAA laws. I did not make any copies from a medical chart. There were a couple of nurses that I worked with during a clinical rotation at a hospital that disliked me and one of them sent a note to my instructor stating that I had violated HIPAA laws. What can I do to defend myself?
Thank you for your help

I'm not sure what you can do about this, but what proof did the school present to you for dismissal? Did you admit to any wrong doing? I'm confused on how they can kick you out based on hear say.

Were you required to get student malpractice/liability insurance? If so contact your insurance carrier for advice and stop discussing the issue online.

Agreed: contact your malpractice insurance carrier and/or a lawyer, as you need more help than we can provide here.
Best of luck.

OP, I am sorry you are experiencing this........here at AN we cannot offer legal advice. If you have student Liability Insurance I would notify them......or contact an attorney.
