Clinical Extern Student Nurse Position

Published

Does anyone work as an Clinical Extern/Student Nurse at Hopkins or University of MD? I have an interview with both and just wanted to get some feedback. Thanks!

I have the same question about this

Specializes in NICU.

I work as a CNE on a GI Oncology unit at Hopkins. What do you want to know? :)

I have a couple of questions. How do you like working there ? How was the interview experience ? How long did it take for you to hear that you got the job ?

Specializes in NICU.

My situation was a little different. I go to Hopkins nursing school and I had a clinical rotation on the unit. The nurse manager asked me if I wanted to work there and gave me the requisition number and all that. So she facilitated the process and it only took a few days to hear back. The interview was very low-key since I already knew they wanted me. I have heard from other CNEs that their interviews were low-key though as well. I don't really remember anything about it to be honest except it wasn't stressful at all. After that I attended a fast-track version of orientation and started on my unit. What type of unit do you want to be on? Overall, it has been a very positive experience. I have learned a lot and am easily getting job interviews (I graduate nursing school in December).

I picked surgery and icu! I wanted ob but I'm not sure about them letting CNE work on that unit

Thank you for the info! I had my interview friday and I think it went great. You're right they are very low-key. I did about two hours of share time and LOVED the unit. Hopefully I will hear from them next week! I already declined MDs offer so it looks like I'll be at Hopkins if i get the job. I'm on weinberg 5C and 5D? I'm honestly still confused about all the units and floors in the Weinberg building lol

Nice! Congrats. I'm sure you will get it. I work on Weinberg 4C :)

Did you get it?? I hope so! I just started as a CNE in the ED there at the beginning of the year. I'm learning a ton!
