Hello fellow students, I am very interested in finding out about YOUR program, the ADN 2 yr program
I am in , has clinical experiences that run concurrently with our classes. I have heard other programs cluster the clinical experiences at the end of their semester. Just wondering how different programs run.
Thanks :) This is not for research! Just having discussions with my peers.

A lot of it has to do with the BON requirements. California requires concurrent clinical and theory, as do many other states- this is why some foreign graduates have difficulties becoming licensed. To know which states allow clinicals after the theory courses, the state BONs would be your best bet.

The programs that cluster them are usually LPN to RN bridge programs. But concurrency is a big deal with some states for licensure.

My program is concurrent. Clinical start the first week of the semester just like all the other classes. I think it especially valuable during 1st semester when we take nursing skills. As you learn skills in lab and get checked off you are able to start doing those things in a clinical setting. It also gives you more time to improve and figure out an orginazation system since you get feedback from your instructor every week.

For both my LPN and my RN program, clinicals ran the same time/semester as the lecture portion of class.
All the nursing schools in my State do it that way, regardless of whether it is an LPN school or ADN or BSN RN program

Mine was totally concurrent for all but the first year (no clinicals first year). The 2nd, 3rd, and 4th years all had 3 days of clinical and 2 (packed) days of classes, including distribution requirements like economics or history or language, whatever you could fit in. One year I had classes from 0800 to 2200 (that's 10pm) every Monday with about an hour off in the middle somewhere (I ate my supper walking from one end of campus to the other), and clinical at 0645 on Tuesday, Weds, and Thurs. That was a long year. :)
