CLINIC MANAGER PAY-Fresenius

I have about 2.5 years experience in Dialysis(28.00-30.00 range in jobs). I am interviewing for a manager position in NC and was wondering if anyone knows about how much they pay/bonuses/etc?

Don't dooooooo it! Don't cross over to the management dark side!!!

I did it for 3 years, not for FMC, but DaVita - then, Gambro.

Never again. No way, no day. They tried to get me to take another clinic when I was a staff nurse again, and I refused.

They hired a crazy woman to run it - seriously, she had ISSUES...and I finally looked at my medical director one day (whom I had known for 13 years) and said, "Dr. D., you have got to help me get out of here. If I don't, that woman is gonna push me one toke over the line. I love my career, and she's not worth it."

Quit a week later.

Went back to another clinic (the one I originally started at in '94) the other day...saw several of my old patients...who all begged me to come back, 'cause they were scared for their lives and the lives of the other patients.

It's not that the nurses are bad. I trained half of the ones there that day. They know what they're doing. But when you're being made to do everything under the sun, something's gotta give.

I totally understand what it feels like being an rn in an FMC unit. As a nurse for more than 7 years, I don't mind the everyday stressors in life. But if the manager is out of control, staff are calling out everyday and nothing's being done about it, there's a shortage of nurses and in influx of very unstable pts, I would not recommend anybody to work for FMC. :nurse:

Heck no way would I ever take a Clinic Mgr position. Girl, they will work you til your bones pop out, mainly covering all the staff that is either sick of the place or out sick or whatever, but I wouldn't make any life changing decisions based on this company. They suck!!!

Nope girl, I liked Dialysis but it's a whole different ball game compared to floor nursing. I miss my floor nursing, although I don't have 30 yrs behind me, I just wouldn't recommend FMC, perhaps DaVita but either way the pay is usually less than Hospital Nursing. If you want to stay in the same relm of money then look into Acute care Dialysis. More overtime $$ involved but if you prefer something less busy then maybe check into Radiology Nursing. Just a little helpful hint from someone who looks out for other healthcare professionals.

Beware that Acutes require on call. I am presently working 4 days a week in Acutes but I'm not getting 40 hours. Census dips so much some days we get out at 1230. So I either have to take PTO or go to the chronic unit with the possiblity of being called back to the Acute unit which is my first priority.

I am on call 7 nights a month. That's a lot. Sometimes 8 as there are only 4 nurses in this 5 bed unit. I was on call two fridays in a row. With Sat and Sun off. So really not off until Sat at 0600 and if you've been at the hospital all night Sat is a wash. Then I was on call Sat at 1600 until Monday at 0600. So that weekend was a total wash too. 3 weekends in a row a wash.

I'm presently traveling for my local regional VP and I won't do acutes again. NEVER.

As for DaVita at least they have a facilities administrator along with a clinical manager.

True true, on call is a biggie with Acutes so if you don't mind bieng on call then go that route other than that I just wouldn't recommend Fresenius.

Not all Outpatient units have a FA AND CM! None in the Top Cats Region near the coast anyways!! Sure would have made my days with them do able. It is not easy working the floor, managing and oooohhhhh the conference calls!!!!!

LOL! DaVita definitely IS one for conference calls, aren't they?? One thing I do NOT miss!

If you are really interested, I would opt for DaVita over FMC. I have worked for both, both as floor nurse, now as FA for Davita. My pay (Texas) is about 85k, that includes my bonus. I have a good clinic, it makes money, labs are great, all is well, so my bonus reflects. If you are at a bad clinic for whatever reason, you will work much more, and not get a bonus. Being the FA will BURN YOU OUT. It's exhausting, you will assume TOTAL responsibility, and you will be loosing money if you will be needing to work the floor. No overtime.

Did you know about the casualties associated with this incident? I left this center after completing only 6 weeks, I advised my friend who was the CM to leave, she stuck it out because she ws promised staff, in reality the AM was doing a lot of back stabbing. There were atotal of 4 nurses questioned, one got fired, it was my friend who did not know that cpr was not being performed, the patient in question had been deceased about one hour before anyone knew. There were questionable things going on between the AM and at least 2 of her longtime pets...yes, slapped on the back of the hand...they investigated the incident that they were involved in, they operated the center while the AM found and convinced another unknown casualty to take over as CM. No doubt the AM sealed this new deal with a kiss of death and a contract, poor new CM. Watch out for snakes, you work with them everyday. FMC needs to clean house wth the AM in this area. Trenton, Craven County, ECU, Crystal Coast, NB Acute at the hospital all have the same AM and RVP. Stay away from these areas unless you want to play the Forget My Career (FMC) game. I heard from my friend they are vicious. There ain't no gold in dem der hills! Three nurses got away with murder. One of the nurses involved wasn't even cpr certified. Don't think the BON will help you, they told my friend it was her choice to work under these conditions. The AM thinks she is untouchable and above the law but what goes around comes around. Protect your license or you'll sing the FMC theme song "locked up, won't let me out!" Collect your $200, pass go and tell this AM "hell no!" Everyone will turn on her because she is a she-devil.

If you are really interested, I would opt for DaVita over FMC. I have worked for both, both as floor nurse, now as FA for Davita. My pay (Texas) is about 85k, that includes my bonus. and what about your state surveys? When was the last one? What were the deficiencies? You can not judge patient satisfaction or how good a unit is just by the labs alone.. that is the problem...

FMC is a thankless place to work. If you take the position, please take the time to go out and meet the patients. Do not tolerate your staff acting unprofessionally. These patients deal with alot. They don't need attitude from the PCT who has worked there two years and thinks she knows everything there is to know about dialysis. If you take the position, stand up for the staff that does put their heart into patient care. Thank them for what they do. (even though your bosses will not be thanking you) Every area is different. There has to be some great FMC's and DaVita's out there. I wouldn't take it for less than 85K. Doubt FMC is paying that.
