Clinic job or SNF?

Would you rather work for a Huge name clinic that pays you 17.00 for clerical (rooming patients, teaching, history, assessments) or one that pays you 20.00 for a skilled nursing home with subacute care?

I was just offered both and there are obviously other factors but which would you choose?

It depends on your personality and career goals.

Pursue the subacute job if you need more money and are wanting to learn basic bedside nursing skills, superb time management, supervision and leadership of CNAs and techs, and Medicare documentation regulations. You will possibly have to work nights, weekends, and holidays at the subacute facility.

Accept the clinic job if you want the prestigious name on your resume, enjoy patient turnover (not having to deal with the same pain-in-the-butt patient for 8 to 12 hours in a row), like a brisk pace, don't need the extra money, and prefer daylight hours.

dont know if you are a seasoned nurse or a new grad, but if was a new grad i will choose subacute for the experience, but it depends what you want.

Definately subacute for great nursing skills and experience!!! I do skilled nursing and absolutely love it!! But there are other nurses that like doing more clerical work and cant stand LTC?subacute?skilled nursing Me personally I cant stand working in a clinic with abunch of Dr.s, cause I had to deal with Resident Dr.s who wanted a secretary and mommy not a nurse

I was faced with this delima myself about 6 months ago. I chose the clinic position at the large well know company. I dont regret it but it is a pretty standard boring job. I feel like a monkey can do my job most days and not alot of critical thinking nursing skills getting used. I try to amuse myself by performing additional assesments that are not really necessary and using my nursing skills to determine what is really wrong with the patient, even if I keep those thoughts to myself. On the plus side. It is 8-5 hours m-f with weekends and holidays off. It's nice to feel like a normal person with a normal schedule, after working weekend graves in a hospital for 8 years. It's also pretty easy work and I dont feel like my license is on the line all the time. I love the people I work with and for the most part the docs are pretty okay.

After working in LTC myself, I would love a clinic job!!
