I am an RN and am looking for part time work in a clinic. Preferably a pediatric clinic in one of my surrounding areas. I have previous experience in a level 3 NICU. Where do I even begin looking for clinic positions open. I don't see any on hospital websites. Is it through word of mouth or who you know?? help!!

Hi!,
I currently work at a clinic as a receptionist and am in the interview process for clinic nursing jobs.
What area of the country do you live in? I'm in the Twin Cities area and we have 4 major health systems that have clinics with parent hospitals. If you know the name of the major health care systems you can go to their main website. Hospital jobs and Clinic jobs are usually posted in the same place.
Hope that helps!

Hi,
I suggest you make a list of the pediatric clinics in your area and check out their websites which you may or may not see job postings. If no postings are listed try to find out who does the hiring at that clinic and make contact with them by phone or email asking if their are positions available or do an informational interview asking what is takes to get a job there, ask for suggestions on what to include in your resume. Give them your contact information and ask them to call you if something becomes available. You will have to actively seek out employers rather than waiting for a position to be posted and sometimes it is who you know so if you know someone who works at one of these clinics make contact with them and let them know you are looking for work at a pediatric clinic. You could even put the word out on social networking sites like Linkedin or FB to let people know you are interested in this kind of work. You never know who may see your posting, sometimes it's a friend of a friend who has an in to the place you want to work at.
Hope this helps!

craigslist for your city. that's where you may find many private clinic positions (not affiliated with a larger health system). or do a search of "pediatrics offices" in your city and i'm sure something will come up. these were things i did when i was job hunting :) good luck to you!

What area / state are you in? Wisconsin has a great state-wide job search engine (www.wisconsinjobnetwork.com), and I'm assuming other states do too. Monster is another big one. Your school may also offer services for alumni seeking jobs. Word of mouth is certainly helpful too -- I got my clinic job by informing my PCP that I was looking for a different job, and then I was hired. :) Most primary care clinics look for full-time nurses, but perhaps they staff walk in clinics where they would hire part-time nurses. Good luck on your job hunt!!

I second the idea to find out all clinics in your area. Check phone book, online, etc. Then find their website, bookmark it, and check it every week at least. This is in addition to advice above. Also have your resume, cover letter, etc all ready. Then when a job opens you will be ready.

Not sure what its like in other areas of the country, but I worked in clinic in California that is associated with the hospital in the area. Generally, clinics don't hire RNs because they don't need them and its too costly. They barely hire LVNs any more. Most are staffed with MAs. If your interested in staying in caring for children, might I suggest looking into home care instead. Just be firm in that you only want PT work otherwise they will work you FT.
