Cleveland Clinic: Unit J7-3, Cardiac Stepdown

Does anyone have experience with this unit? I have an interview coming up and wanted any background/additional information you may have, such as:

Do New Grads typically transition well on this unit?

How long is the orientation?

Is there an internship?

How's the environment; is it supportive?

What's the nurse-pt ratio?

Ofcourse, these are ?s that I will ask at the interview but any background info is always nice to have...

Thanks for your help:specs:

How did your interview go? Did you find out any of the information? I've heard the Cleveland Clinic is a horrible place to work from a lot of the travel nurses I've worked with, but I find that hard to believe as they wouldn't keep recruiting top doctors if it was that terrible!

My interview for Unit J7-3 is tomorrow...so I'll let you know.

The panel interview at OSU Med Center for the Cardiac Internship/Residency went really well, I think. I should know by the first week of Jan.

I think you have to be careful whenever someone tells you that "ABC Hospital is a horrible place to work!" or "ABC Hospital is a wonderful place to work!" I've found that you will ALWAYS find disgruntled nurses who hate their jobs and the hospital they work for. I've heard good and bad about Cleveland Clinic...I've heard good and bad about the hospital that I've been working at for 2 yrs...

We'll see...

What is the specialty of Unit J7-3?, I've worked on J6-5 as a nurse associate and I really like it, we are a Cardio Thoracic ICU. I just graduated and want to work on that unit.

From the thread title, I'd assume it is a Cardiac Step-down Unit.

This unit receives post-ops from the Cath Lab. I was told at the interview that the avg length of stay for a pt is 24 hrs...so it's a fast-paced unit.

if you survive this floor, you can survive anything. it can be quite intense.

Specializes in ER, progressive care.

I worked as a PCNA at the Cleveland Clinic and from my experience and from the nurses I have worked with...the Cleveland Clinic isn't all it's cracked up to be. :twocents:

This may be a good experience for you, though. I don't know if you already had your interview but if you didn't, then good luck!
