Hey guys! I'm in my last semester of pre-reqs! Anyone been in this situation that has words to relieve my silly stress?! I haven't been in a classroom in almost 6 years. All of my previous classes in college have been done online. I'm not sure how I'm going to transition back into any actual classroom setting, being around other students/the instructor in person, you know? I'm a pretty social-adaptable person - I'm sure I'll be okay once I get comfortable with the whole ordeal again. I just don't like the idea of getting used to it again, but I know I'll be just fine once I do! We'll see, just wanting a little bit of stress-relief from your stories of how well you transitioned. :)

Hi there,
I also, had a 6 year stretch between actual (high school) classes and college/university coursework. It was a big deal at the time (at least it felt like it was for me) and I was SO nervous and anxious a few weeks prior to starting my pre-reqs in a classroom.
But to be honest, it was so liberating and exciting! I got to meet so many people (of all ages, background, etc) and made friends with people that were in the same boat as me. I really preferred studying in a classroom setting over online courses! SO much better. And I found the transition to be very easy to handle.
I'm sure you'll do fine. Enjoy your first few days, meet new people, make friends and enjoy the new learning style! :)
I'm starting to get nervous too, since I'll be starting my BSN program in 2 weeks!! YIKES! But I'm sure it won't be as bad as I'm imagining....

You will do just fine. Just hope the teacher is good, because some lectures bore you to sleep. Because this is your last prereq, you will rock this class out, it will be mentally nailed in the back of your mind. Let me tell you taking the last prereq feels so good!!!!!!! you feel a sense of accomplishment like you jumped a huge hurdle, but there's more to come later. Stay focused and keep your eyes on the prize. Good luck

I started back in Spring 2010 after being out of school for awhile. I was very nervous also but it felt so nice being back in a classroom setting. I start my fall semester next Monday and I will be taking my last 2 pre-reqs to be able to apply for the program in January and I am crazy excited! It feels great. You're doing great! :)
Wow thanks all of you guys! It was amazing! I can't believe the relief I felt after I finally got settled in and knew where my classrooms were located! I feel so lucky because I can already tell my A&P instructor is going to be awesome! I was worried about having an A&P teacher that was going to sit and read through chapters and you know, create a huge snore-fest throughout each day of lecture - but he does every single one of his on power points! Which I feel will save my tail when it comes to the note taking! He also said all of our tests will be word bank diagrams and multiple choice on scantrons. I pray I aim to reach my A goal, and good luck to all of you! I wish you nothing but the best! :)
Wow Iridescent Orchid, that's great!!!
Happy everything looks good for you, and that you're getting a good "vibe" about the professors and such.
That's definitely one of my biggest worries/concerns: profs, teaching style, and well... if I can do this (because I know this ride will be a tough one)! My first nursing class begins in 2 weeks... and I'm trying to not rip many hairs out thinking about it all!
I'm sure I'll be okay. But thank you for your nice update on how it went; it surely helped ease some of my anxieties!

Thanks! I think we all have a tendency to overthink when it comes to certain areas in our lives and we just keep adding stress to the thoughts. Most of the time it turns out to be completely different than we're expecting it to go! It's always a nice relief though, when we spend all of this time stressing about it all. I wish you the best of luck too! Let us know how your first days goes if you get the chance to! :)

cccormier, I just survived my first week of nursing school. I had been freaking out about it from the day I got my acceptance letter. But it was GREAT! I got to see people that I knew from pre-reqs plus start to get to know my new soon to be BFFs. Everyone is friendly and excited. All of our classes are in our almost brand new, state of the art nursing building. Getting to see and get familiar with the labs and all of the technology available was incredible. The professors have all been very accessible and open and friendly. Our first semester is 14 credits (18 if a student still needs patho) so it's a busy schedule but the professors are easing us into all of the craziness to come.
I'm sure you'll have a great experience, too!
