Clarification On A Requirement For Taking NCLEX in Texas

World Registration

Published

Hello everyone.

I am a U.S. citizen and I am currently taking up nursing in the Philippines. I will be graduating in April 2013.

I went to the website for the Texas BON and I read their requirements. However, it is still unclear to me whether I have to take the local board here in the Philippines before having to take the NCLEX in Texas.

I have no problem with taking the local board here in the Philippines, it's just I don't want to waste time studying for the local board when I could be studying for the NCLEX instead. And the local board is in July 2013.

Please let me know specifically and simply, if I have to take the local board for the Texas NCLEX and give me your thoughts on how I should handle this situation.

Thanks in advance for your help, input, and advise.

Have a blessed day.

I am unofficially eligible to take the exam based on my application status posted on TX bon website. I already completed the requirements. All I have to do is register to pearson vue and pay the fee in order for me to get my ATT. However, I haven't done it because I'm still not prepared. Just read the TX BON website and follow the steps for international graduates. Basically the requirements are CGFNS, Fingerprint, Nsg jurisprudence, and Registered to Pearsonvue. You do not have to take an english proficiency exam such as TOEFL or IELTS as long as your nursing program was conducted in english. I am not required since mine was. But I believe you don't need it too since I'm also a graduate from the Philippines. Hope this helps. Good luck! :)

Hello. Regarding with your post, me as well would like to take NCLEX-RN in Texas. I graduated 2009 and just took the NLE last 2011. Since I don't know anyone from my batch who took NCLEX-RN Im having a hard time on which I need to do first. How do you go about it? I actually read on tx-bon website the requirements. Your advice will be of great help. Thank you.

Actually before I started my application on TX, I emailed them regarding all of my clarifications for their requirements. I recomend to email them everything you have concerns about. It really helps and they respond to your email quick. I actually started my CGFNS CES since it's the first step and it takes long. But I know you can also do Eres other than Cgfns. Just check their website. Then I did my fingerprinting card and took the nsg jurisprudence exam. Btw, I applied online and that's good about TX meaning they have online application and you can easily check you application status online. Im not sure if you need to take the remedial classes since you graduated almost 4 years ago. It's better to email that to them. Hope this somewhat helps. Good luck! :)

As far as I remember, there supposed to be an option saying you do not hold a texas driver's license and you are not required a school code if you graduated internationally. Just answer those questions with (required) that are colored red and you are fine. I don't remember if they asked you if you have a local license but if so, there should be an option as well. But you should be able to explain it on the CGFNS CES report.

I was planning on using eres instead cause the cgfns ces got me confused. I was worried about them requiring me a local license. If you dont mind when did you apply for cgfns ces and how long did it take for them to send your evaluation? Thank you

I also do not have a local license. How come you don't have one? Last May then it was completed by July. You may try ERES if you want, it's up to you. I just don't know anything about it. Good luck.

Regarding the affidavit of graduation. Does it apply to us? Since the forms available are only for schools within USA

Thank you so much for all your help

I wanted to ask regarding the fingerprint. Did you use the card given by the identigonagency or did you have the TX BON deliver one to you. And how long did it take for your prints to be processed? Thank you for your help.

Sorry for all of these questions. I am a US citizen who studied here in the Philippines and want to take the exam in texas. I hope you could help me. Thanks.

1.Where do I get my fingerprints done. May I know the whole process.

2. How do I take the jurisprudence test? How do I go upon doing it. Can I take the test online?

2.May I know how long it would take to get an ATT?

Have you checked out the Texas state BON website? As an International trained nurse you generally are looking at 4-6 months to get eligibility to sit NCLEX if you meet requirements
