City Tech Spring 2021

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hey all aspiring future RN's ! I'm transferring to City tech in fall 2020. Then I plan on applying to City Tech Spring 2021 RN program. I just need to take one more class MAT 1190. Does anyone else plan on applying? Current students in the RN program do you have any advice?

Thanks so much! I'm so nervous and want to make sure I have everything covered.

no problem. As long as you have your 4 pre req classes and your TEAS exam, you should be good.

I'm looking into TEAS study guides. I'm practicing study skills because I'm not the est test taker. Working on it, and will do my best. Are you applying to any other programs?

Hey I'm also transferring in for Fall 2020 to then apply for Spring 2021. I also wanted to know the cut off for the GPA. So far I have a A in psych, A- in english, A- in math 1190 and C in A+P 1 but since I took A+P2 I was planning on replacing the grade since I got a B in A+P2.

Hi! Wondering if you needed academic advisement before enrolling in courses? I never heard back from the advisement office and I've been emailing what feels like everyone and nothing. Now, all of the MAT 1275 courses are closed (save for two mid-afternoon classes that I can't take because of my full-time employment status). I've emailed the director of the advisement office as well as the VP of enrollment...nothing.

I believe you do need advisement before enrolling, but try and see what happens. Every time I've called the transfer office the lady usually picks up, I noticed around 12:30-1:30pm she doesnt though. She had scheduled me for an advisement appointment maybe two weeks ago and I already am enrolled in a class. Also, if MAT 1275 is full maybe you can try MAT 1190.

Thanks! It had been three weeks since transferring and emailing offices, including the transfer office. No one ever responded, so I had to reach out to the higher-ups and finally heard back. I explained my situation and they allowed me to register for one of the closed (all sections were closed at this point) MAT 1275CO classes. Starting the online course tomorrow and am excited. Wishing you a very successful semester, and hope you (and all of us) get into the nursing program :)

Hi all,

I was accepted into the Fall 2020 class and currently enrolled. I always appreciated honesty when getting info about programs when I was applying, so I wanted to pay it forward. This was my second time applying to this program, I did apply for the Spring 2020 term, but I did not meet the cut-off mark. My pre-req GPA at the time was a 3.46 and the end mark was 3.53, I took Math 1275CO (applied my first time with Math 1190) and earned an A in the course which helped my GPA boot to at 3.57. With that being said, I would STRONGLY recommend you all to apply with at least a 3.55 or higher as for the past two semesters the cut-off mark has been between 3.53-3.54. One of the professors from the nursing dept said at one point they did go down to 3.30-3.40, but with each semester it seems to be getting increasingly competitive. I do not want to discourage you all, but I wanted to lay the facts out there and be completely transparent. However, DO NOT GIVE UP no matter how many times it may take you, believe me, I've been there so many times before, but if this is something you truly want to you'll find a way to figure it out whether it be here or at another program.

Best of luck to you all!

Super helpful, thank you! I am a little nervous now because my GPA isn't at the 3.55 mark, but am unsure what method they use to calculate it. Do they only use your prereq GPA? Or do they combine courses/grades/GPA from previous schools attended? Also, I'm a little confused because their web site says they require biology, but I've been told it's not required. Would you mind sharing the correct prereqs needed?

CONGRATS on your Fall start! I'm super excited for you and hope to join the program soon!

@DreamCatcher215 Thank you so much! I do not wanna discrouge you or anyone from applying regardless of their GPA because you never know. They do have somewhat of a "wait list", but you wouldn't know until someone Eithers rejects their seat or doesn't respond back to the acceptance email by the date that's listed. They only look if you have an overall cumulative average (a calculation of all the classes you've taken) of 2.5 or higher, the determining factor is your 4 pre req classes and the passing score for the TEAS. What they probably mean by the biology part is that Bio 1101 is a pre req for A&P1, meaning you have to take and pass Bio 1101 before you can take A&P.

The four pre reqs are:

English 1

Child Psychology

Math 1190 or higher

Anatomy & Physiology ( Bio 2311)

You can also swap out ONE pre req class for a higher grade earned from one of your pre req courses ( A&P 2 grade for A&P 1, Eng 2 grade for Eng 2, etc.)

Hope this helps!

I'm grateful! This eases my nerves a bit LOL :D. I have all but one prereq (MAT 1275CO) and have done well so I'm hoping they take that into consideration. My focus now is taking the TEAS. I really need to ace it. Bless you, thank you so much again!
