Does anyone in here work for CHS? I'm sorry but I have never worked somewhere quite like this? They are so focused on the numbers a should see and don't look at what it takes to care for that one patient. Then again I now know how thay are one of the richest health systems in the US.:uhoh3: Some please tell me I'm not the only one that feels like this.......

City? State?

Gotta think there's a Community Health System in most large cities...

There's certainly one in my city, but given your name, I don't think you're talking about my city/state.

TXPediNurse:

I work for a CHS hospital. Generally, I can say that I enjoy working at this institution.

I think I understand your frustration when you say that you believe you don't have adequate resources to do your job.

Have you attempted to deal with this situation internally? That's the best place to start.

Being proactive in making a change can be quite a learning experience.

A LOT of changes have taken place over the years. From what I hear, most institutions are scraping by the best they can.

Good luck to you, TXPediNurse.

I work for one and I certainly know how you feel. They are too forcused on the so-called 'patient satisfaction' and don't even give a damn on how overworked their staff is. Last week, my facility lost 15 CNA's because of poor management and cheap pay. New hires quit within a week or two.

I have tried going internally, but to my surprise that just led a more difficult administration. I am very proactive in getting doctor what he needs to do his job. I have come across with resistance and even anger toward me when I begin to ask questions. All I get is this is the way its always been done in all the other clinics, but they have never had a pediatric clinic before so how would they know what is needed. They try and run us like one of their internal medicine clinics and I'm sorry children do not understand why you don't have movies to watch or goodies to give out after they've endured 5 or 6 vaccines. They will not sit still and read magazines (that were donated by a patient) that are for adults. Simple things like making it more kid friendly, come on it took 4 months to convince them that I needed locks on my cabinet doors in the rooms and electric outlet plugs/guards. And its not just th little things, what about buying vaccines for my private insurance patients. I am not about to give vaccines provided by the state to Medicaid and cash paying patients and not have them available for the kids whose parents can afford insurance. I'm I just being difficult?

Thank the Lord, we aren't they only ones! The rotating staff is the worst. I as the nurse am doing the job of 3 people and poor receptionist is doing the job og 4 or 5 people. The most famous saying from our administrators whenever we complained that we needed help is "Do more and work harder" and all has to be done within the 8hr alotted time, because "CHS" does not like overtime! AHHHHH!!!! We have lost some good staff and are now having the staff we do have left run between offices between working hours! Is that even legal? Whatever, love my doctor and the girls I work with, but don't think that I can stay very much longer and I've only been with them for 2 yrs!:nuke:
