Christ College of Nursing

Published

Hello :balloons:

I thought it would be neat to get a group board up for us new nursing students at Christ.. to have a place to chat about anything...teachers, homework, ... etc

So... :groupwelcome:

Is anyone started on the English Placement test for Christ yet? I started it and have passage 1 and 2 complete. The argumentative essay looks to be a bear! Just thought I'd ask if anyone else has started.

I just finished up my passages 1 & 2, and have an idea of what to write for the 3rd passage. I saw in the instructions that it doesn't have to be any set length, it should be thorough, but also concise. Geesh! How long are you guy's essays?

That English placement was soo hard. I hate that type of work. My third passage was about 1 1/2 pages. I turned it in today and that was a load off my back. I also hand delivered my scholarship packet. Did you apply for any of the scholarships or did you just sign the tuition benefit agreement?

Well hopefully you are finished with the english and are breathing easily now. What tract did you decide on. I'm choosing the A tract. So I'll have Monday's off and clinicals on Tuesdays. The thought of being at the hospital at 7:00 am makes me want to:cry:. I live 45 minutes away with no traffic. YUCK! Oh well, hopefully I'll become a morning person.

Grrr I am so glad that English placement is over! I mean who cares about Machiavelli? I was hoping they would have given us something at least interesting (like health care related). Oh well. Mine ended up being about 1.5 pages too. I really hope I don't have to take ENG 101 this fall. I didn't apply for any scholarships because they were all need based and I know for a fact that my family's EFC would have been too high. Even though they are not paying for school, since I'm 23, their income still needs to be looked at. So I just signed the TBA. I'm thinking about Cardiac nursing, so working for the "heart hospital of cincinnati" would be a great start to my career. I'm really leaning toward the C track. That would give me Mondays off and done with classes by 2:30 (I live up past Kings Island so I have a long drive too), but the A track is definitely my second choice. I hear ya about  at the thought of being at Christ by 7am for clinicals! I'd have to get up at like 4:30am to be there on time! Yikes. Oh well, it will be sooo worth it in the end. I'm planning on buying a TON of coffee grounds from Sams Club and getting a HUGE travel mug for clinical days!

Hi guys i need your help!!!

i am currently about to take CNA classes to be an stna but my true goal is to start nursing school next year. I have heard many goo dthings about christ as well and you cant beat the tuition benefit. I have not applied yet because i was wondering what term are they enrolling for? are they still taking applicants for the 2009 term?? i hope they are. please let me know

thanks a lot

Hi Kelley,

I just answered your questions on a different thread, but I wanted to add more of my :twocents: here. Once you have your STNA, I would apply like crazy to Christ, or other hospitals for that matter. You could be a Patient Care Assitant (PCA). That will really help you out with school. You'll already have the hands-on care down pat! Plus, there is a section on the Christ College's application that you can list healthcare-related employment. How good would that look to say you've been employed with a hospital in a patient care setting? Awesome. Just a thought. You could also be a Health Unit Coordinator (HUC), but since you will have already had the STNA training, I'd go with the PCA position. Just a thought... good luck!

Hey everyone! I know this thread is a little old but hopefully one of you who were accepted to Christ can help me...I plan on applying to Christ next week (they sent my app in the mail and Im still waiting for it). Im a nontraditional student as well, I have 2 kids and will be graduating in may from Michigan State with a BS in Health Studies. Well my questions are: Do they still do the tuition agreement with the hospital for a time committment? And what are the stats of the students who are accepted? I spoke with someone from admissions and she said my GPA was good (3.37) but Im not sure if she was just saying that to gas me up so that I could apply or if she really meant it. And could someone tell me about the area even though I do plan on visiting if I apply. My last question is do you have to take a certain amount of gen ed credits there before you can start the nursing program like they do at Good Sam? Ill already have all the pre reqs done so of course I wouldnt want to take any courses over just to fill that requirement. Thanks!

Oh, how long does it usually take them to send out the decision letters after you apply?

Thanks Guys!

they send out admissions letters after march 15th. I had got accepted this year but could not attend so I am re applying. I got my acceptance letter on monday march 16th. they send out the letters to those not accepted first. you dont have to have gen eds dont first they only require 3 years of prep english, high school biology, high school chem. they stopped doing the tuition benefit with health alliance about 2 years ago so now you have to find ur own way of paying bc they dont have financial aid yet, which is why i didnt attend this year. the lady from financial aid since now they qualify for financial aid they will know by january if they will be able to offer it to incoming students. every student has to take fine arts, transitions and ethics no one gets an exemption. but if u already got psych, soc, microbio, a and p, effective public speaking out the way well then u will only need the nursing courses and fine arts, transitions and ethics. the program is very intense even though they do offer a 3 year track. it seems like this year will be more competitive than last year. the school is very diverse. there are men, single moms, older students, career changers, and of course right out of high school. they only accept about 175. last year about 600 applied.
