CHOC RN Residency August 2019

Published

Hi all!

The CHOC app for their new grad RN residency recently opened, so I wanted to create a forum where we're all able to connect! I applied to the CVICU!

Crossing my fingers for all of us!

Thanks!

I heard from one person that they received an offer for PICU on Wednesday

Was it for the Residency or Fellowship?

Residency

I am looking to apply for this program for the fall 2020 cohort and was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on how hard it would be to be marrie and go on a honeymoon during the month of October Please let me know.

Give yourself buffer room if you can! It’s not likely that they will give you time off at the beginning

Mine still says Under Consideration and I received an interview

Hi! I'm currently applying for the Feb 2020 cohort for CHOC NICU, and had some questions. Did everyone who receive an interview have a preceptorship at a children's hospital/floor? How strict are they with hiring without that experience, for any children's hospitals? Thank you in advance!

Hi all! Did anyone upload a cover letter? There wasn’t a spot for it, so I didn’t, and I checked out past forums and people didn’t either. But now I’m just overthinking and got nervous. Thanks!

I applied to CHOC RN fellowship yesterday and I was unable to send in my cover letter. I spoke to recruiter today and she said that I am unable to send it as attachment since I already submitted my application. Do you know if they will automatically reject my application since I don't have a cover letter attached with my resume? I am freaking out:/Help, any advice is appreciated.

I'm unsure but it was a bit confusing that you couldn't add a separate cover letter or any other documents from your portfolio (RN license etc.) I made one document with my cover letter and CV for my residency application. Hope that was okay..

As for your situation, I would simply call HR and ask. Maybe they can give you an email contact you can send it to? Worst case you could withdraw and resubmit your app since it's still in the window (closes the 5th I think) but I get nervous withdrawing. Wish I could be more helpful--best of luck with the fellowship application! ?

Thanks! Hopefully they will still consider me. Best of luck to you as well. ?

For those who got into the residency program, any advice for someone still in nursing school who wants to apply upon graduation?

Hi all! For those who started the Aug 2019 cohort with CHOC, curious how it is going. I am going to be applying again for August and would love to hear. Also, wondering if anything will change with regards to the cohort. Many of the children's hospitals (and adult) are pushing back their Summer cohorts due to coronavirus. Will there still be in-person classes etc? Any information would be appreciated! I look forward to applying again and the chance to be a CHOC RN! ?
