CHOC February 2012

Published

Hey all,

Just thought I'd start a thread for those of us hoping to get into CHOC in Feb. Apps were post on the 15th. What did everyone apply for? Are you local or out of the area? Any connections with CHOC? Let's hope we all get hired =)

I'm coming from out of state after graduation in Dec. I'm originally from Sacramento and really want to live in So Cal for a few years and love choc. I love the area it is in (hello, 5 min from Disneyland!) I am already PALS certified and have a previous degree in healthcare administration, so I'm hoping that will help with getting a call. I put oncology as my first and med/sug as my second. I didn't get the chance to speak with HR regarding # of positions, but hopefully those areas are in need! Good luck to everyone applying!!

Thanks tashacorrine! Hopefully you'll hear from them soon! :)

My friend called and the HR rep said they received 1200 apps for 15-20 positions total. Don't know how what the breakdown for each unit is though.

I believe the amount of positions are as follows (if my memory serves me right)

Med/Surg - 4

Oncology - 5

PICU - 2

NICU - 4

And if I remember clearly. When you clicked on the job search place, in red it said that you could only submit one application.

Good luck to everyone!!

Samesies :(

On the bright side, I got a call back for an interview from the Mayo Clinic in AZ! Woot!

Good to everyone who applied to CHOC!

NICU was what I applied to

NICU was what I applied to

Me too! Rejected. But they opened 3 positions within the last hour... http://www.newgradrn.com/orange-county---new-grad.html I just applied to Short Stay.

Specializes in CVICU, CCU, SICU, MICU.
I applied for a NICU spot. Do you think just having my ADN (vs a BSN) will decrease my chances of getting a spot?

I have several friends that work at CHOC (LA & OC), and they don't hire ADN new grads. They barely hire ADNs with experience.... sad times.

im wondering if I didnt get CHOC because i live in san diego and they offer relocation.

Anyone heard anything yet? Mine still just says thank you for applying, your app is under review....

My friend got an interview for the Hem-Onc unit. I applied for the PICU and it still says that my app is under review too
