Hi Nurses :)

Wanted to start a new forum for those of you applying for the RN New Grad Program for the Spetemper 2013 cohort.

Heres the Link: http://www.chla.org/site/c.ipINKTOAJsG/b.3929777/k.E91E/Nursing_Career_Opportunities.htm#.UT6aKo7fRdQ

Applications opened today so best of luck to all who apply!

Which areas are you guys putting as your first and second choices?

For me 1st is PICU and 2nd is enology. :)

My first choices are the ED and then BMT. I worked both for my capstone and LOVED THEM!! I don't pray often but will be praying for this!!

Hey Ocennia,

What are those units like? Is the ED very busy? Are all the patients in BMT on isolation?

Well each hospital is different but where I was it was busy. On the BMT unit where I was, the patients aren't in isolation - they're in negative pressure rooms and anyone who goes in their rooms has to wear masks and gown if need be. Where did you apply to?

When I call the number that was on the how to apply page I only get a machine. Is there a number where you can reach a person?

I haven't submitted my packet yet...still trying to decide. I just want to make a good choice based on my personality type.

Which units are you considering ?

I got the same recording, not sure of any other numbers but if you find one could you let me know. Thanks :)

Those of you who said you spoke to someone, can you please tell me how you got through to speak to someone in the office?

I turned in my packet yesterday, actually hand delivered it. I also went to the Nurse.com fair in LA this week and got to speak to the recruiter. She said that on April 15, all the Unit Managers will START to go through the packets. Then a week later and if your chosen, they will start to call you in for the panel interview. The call/panel interview will go into early May. 2nd interview will be the rest of May, and by June 1st they hope to have their cohort hired.

I just wanted to post this so people dont freak out if they dont get an interview scheduled by the first week of April.

Thank you for the update :) did she say how many people applied ? Or how many they planed on taking this year ? Again thank you for letting us know and good luck :)
