CHLA RN Residency Sept 2018

Published

Hi everyone! I created this thread for all of us who are applying to the RN Residency at Children's Hospital Los Angeles for the September 2018 cohort. We can keep each other posted on application status and interviews. What unit did everyone apply to? I applied to the NICCU.

Congrats!!! How did they contact you? I'm still hoping for one.

Hi cu104468 - It was by phone call. There's still some time before next round interviews start so they may still be calling people, I wouldn't lose hope!!

I was told 3 for the emergency department. Not sure about the rest of the hospital

Congrats to those who heard back this week! Took longer than expected!!

Was hoping that meant OR would hear something today, but nothing on my end. Can other OR hopefuls confirm?

Also, 25 seems awfully low. March cohort is roughly 40 plus. I would guess September would be similar in size, but that's just an assumption.

I got my official rejection notice today. I am really sad. Thanks for the kind words. I bet you will be awesome nurses! Good luck in the interviews, this as an amazing opportunity :)

You will be an awesome nurse too! Rejection is never fun (I've had my fair share lately too), but it doesn't mean you're not going to do great things.

I was also invited back to the Heart Institute!! I actually stepped out of graduation on Monday when I saw I got a call from Los Angeles (I'm moving from Philly to CA this weekend) good luck to you guys!! :-)

I had my second interview today and asked about how many they're hiring! At least for 5W, the amount of hires isn't confirmed yet, not sure if that's how it is for all the units though.

Can you shed any light on how the 2nd interview was structured? Was it mainly behavioral questions? Thanks :)

It was mostly behavioral and situational questions! They also catered some of their questions to my resume, since I have some RN experience. Overall interview was about an hour.

Has anyone else been offered a spot in the program? I got an offer last week!

I got offered today!!! Congrats to us!
