Chicago December 2021 Grad

I am graduating from my ABSN program in December in and planning on moving to Chicago afterwards. I started my program in August of last year and have been contemplating getting a patient care technician job if it will help secure more job opportunities. I have been looking at the UIC, Northwestern, and Rush, but recognize that those hospitals can be quite competitive for new grads.  

Questions:

When is a good time to start applying for positions?

Will getting a tech job for six months increase my chances of getting a job? 

Which hospitals would you recommend for new grads?

I am also going to be graduating in December and looking to relocate to Chicago after graduation. I am really wondering when a good time to apply is as I don’t want to apply to early or too late. I think getting a tech job will probably increase your chances as you will be an internal candidate as well as put some experience on your resume! Hoping to follow along with this post if people have some insight as to when to apply.
