We shall see! I am hoping. I have heard quite a few people received maximum points as well. My concern is 40 or more potentially earned full points and the selection process will come down to a luck of the draw tie-breaker haha. But I am just conjuring worst-case scenario thoughts in this terrible period of waiting.

Congrats on your score!! Great job!! How many people have you heard got maximum points? It’s easy to think about worse case scenario but I do think you have a pretty good shot. I don’t think all 40 people are going to have full points.

Hi all. I’m a first year student right now. Last year the cut off was 3 points but as you all know there were only 32 accepted. Good luck to you all!

Thank you! And I heard an additional 4 people earned full points (from my day of testing). So who knows how it will all shake out. Many people end up getting accepted into other schools that make more sense for them financially or provide them with a shorter commute.

Does anyone know a rough estimate of how much a student of the nursing program could work while in the nursing program itself? I remember at one of the information sessions that it was not recommended to work during the second year of the program. This is understandable, as the program is intense. I am just curious if anyone had additional insight from the advisors.

I think it really depends on your preference and situation. Although it is recommended for students to not work if possible, I know some people who unfortunately have to work full-time or part-time and still manage to be in the program! (Some are even working parents!) Not impossible but definitely takes a lot of time management and commitment! Also congrats on the score!

Thank you! And thank you for your response! Time management is indeed key.

Thanks for commenting! I hope school is going good!! So if you had a 332/335 at the very least you got a spot?

You’re welcome! Gotcha! Yeah there is a lot that goes into it. I know of two people last year that got accepted but declined the position due to their personal circumstances. It really just depends on what the overall average of this years cohort is.

I did get a spot! But there was a guy who had the same score as me who didn’t get in and was number 7 on the waitlist I think. But our year things were crazy and 32 isn’t normal.

Ahhh that makes me so nervous. I’m at 332/335 so I’m praying!!

I’m hoping so. I applied last year and didn’t get in. How is nursing school going?

They suggested no more than 16 hours a week to us.  There are people in mine who work full time. This term is very chaotic and people are dropping down on working due to it. Next year might be different but with covid and restrictions you will have to be flexible and ready for immediate schedule changes. So if you do work, have a job that is willing to work with you.

Good luck to you! I applied three times before getting in but with an 86 I’m sure you will be accepted ? it is going great! Chemeketa is one of the best programs in Oregon and the pandemic has shown that. The instructors have done everything in their power to help us succeed. It is really fast paced now that we are in Spring term. I’m sad to leave the first year instructors after everything we’ve gone through, you sort of become a family if that makes sense.
