Writing is what got me last year too.. it’s so subjective and just worded so weird.. it’s what I did the worst on again this year as well. And there’s really no way to study for it.

UGH. the writing was so awful. Taking it for the second time I noticed that the writing and reading were really similar if not  the same as the year before but I didn't write it down so I cant say for sure. Super subjective. I just did as many practice tests as possible to get the vibe. I hate that they don't do an essay and interview process! We are never going to be able to fully show our ability on a standardized test.

Just in case I end up taking it again, do you have any pointers at all for that portion??

@kozamala yes!! I hate that we can’t see the right vs. wrong answers!

Really? I didn’t know that I thought everyone that applied got to take the exam. Do you know how they determine who gets to take it or not?

those who had completed applications were allowed to take the exam, but I’m not sure how accurate that is, I heard someone who was in my group tell us there were 122 people taking the test.

This is my biggest thing! There are only two ways to get points and not enough to set people apart.

I wish we could see what questions we got wrong and why

At the end they show which questions you got wrong and if you changed your answer but obvs we can't take a pic of our results or anything. I wish hahaha

Going in this year I knew writing is what killed me last year so I took a different approach to how I answered. Instead of thinking about what I would personally write or put sentences in places, I tried to think about what they were wanting me to put. It felt like I was going against my first instinct and gut the whole time but I did better on it by doing that. I studied for the writing using online KNAT practice testing. I just took practice tests over and over again. The passages from reading and writing were also the same from last year. I remembered the same exact stories they used.

I hate that points for A&P are the same down to B- but if we are wishing for changes to the program I wish they would just expand it to include more people! It sucks to see people in other states get a 70% and have their choice of 5 programs.

Oh wow! I didn’t know that. I emailed a nursing advisor and asked what the lowest point total they accepted last year was but I haven’t heard anything back.

I used a program for the NLN PAX which seemed to be closer to the Kaplan than the HESI and TEAS stuff that gets lumped in.

My advisor at Chemeketa said 86 is usually the line for acceptance in the first round and then it goes down into the waitlist after that. That was last year when the number of students was low though.

That makes me nervous because I got a 86%.. I’ve just been praying it’s enough. There’s nothing else I can do at this point but it’s all I have been able to think about!
