Chemeketa Community College Nursing Program 2015

U.S.A. Oregon

Published

Hey! I thought I would start a thread for those who applied for Chemeketa's program this year in hopes to begin Fall 2015. I just did my essay yesterday afternoon :) I know it's rare to get in your first try, and I would need full points on my essay to even have a chance, but it would still be neat to keep in touch with some others who have also applied! Good luck everyone! I would love to hear from you!

I did join the group! I'm Erica. :)

PS. Congrats!!!!!

Does anyone know how the number of applicants this year compares to last year? I got 360 points, but my brain is still telling me to be paranoid, given my luck recently :)

There were around 180 applicants. Congrats on your score!

I applied for this year! I got a 48 on my essay and overall have a 358. I doubt I'll get in, but it'll be fun to follow this thread and see who does get in!

gethay I too got a 48/50 on my essay and have a score of 358 that I am doubting. However, orangeyaglad mentioned there were only 180 applicants this year and last year there were over 200 and the lowest score was 256..... So we might have a chance!! Let's be hopeful! I can't stand waiting another month. It just mean.

Oops! 356!! You knew what I meant ha ha! Gosh this is all I can think about!

I got a final score of 358/360 also. Alternate points were not possible for me, as I didn't apply last year. I'm not very hopeful. We shall see, it feels like an eternity of waiting....

Is is true that when people have the same score they use the A&P grades as a tie breaker? Like my score sheet says I got a B in BI232 but I got As in 233 and 234. So if someone has the same score as I do but they got As in all three classes then they would get in first? Right??

That's what I understood. I also heard that they take into consideration if your are a CNA/LPN

Oh really?!! How would they know that information since it is not included on our Nursing Score Sheet?

I'm unaware of any special consideration involving health care experience. The tie breaker would occur between A/B versus C and it only applies to Biology 231 or the first class of the anatomy sequence.

Sanguiano, your question would be the most logical option when deciding between two similar applicants. (Un)fortunately, it works in a more arbitrary way. On the 2015 application, it states the steps for resolving a tie. The first step will be what Kalesmommy outlined. If both students have an "A" or "B" in BI 231 then the tie will be broken in the following way:

If Step 1 fails to break a tie, then:

2) Resident of Chemeketa Community College District. The district includes Marion, Polk, most of Yamhill, and part of Linn County.

If Step 2 fails to break a tie, then:

3) Random selection will be used.

A word to the wise: place little stock in any statement that contains "I've heard..." when a claim is made.
