Hello Everybody!!
I thought I would go ahead and start a thread for the CHEM-101 online class for the Summer of 09.
Hopefully this can be a place where we can help each other out if any of us get confused!

I'm a little confused about the 1st Lab....
How can I tell what chem comp. has been used up?
My contents are listed 1. 2. 3.

Is your 3. unknown? It should turn out water, unknown, and one of the chemicals you put in. The other one will be gone - it took me a minute to figure it out, just check and see what you put in vs. what your list says!
Initially, it comes up:
1.Hydrocholoric Acid
2.Water
After the reaction:
3.Unkown
P.S.
Hmmmmm..........
So, it's the 2nd chemical I added?...That is not listed! Wow! Can I make it any more difficult? :-)
Yay! Haha, I think just the fact that it's Chemistry makes our brains automatically assume we don't understand :)

In the lab, it directs you to add another chemical after putting in the HCl....You are asked to add KOH. Hope that helps!
In the "Lab Supplements" section of our BB, there is a Word document to help with one of the questions in Lab 2 (which is now up).
Sorry I read that wrong and thought you understood RNWntab! KOH was what it was for me, although I have a friend in another section who had completely different chemicals!
You're fine, I did figure it out.
I appreciate all the help I received!
Thanks so much to my Chemistry-pals!

Has the teacher graded your lab one yet, if you are taking chem online thru SB? Also, on quiz one did you round off your decimal to the hundredth spot? Like if the answer for example was .555555556 did you put .56? just wondering. thanks
I haven't received anything back on Lab 1 yet.
For the decimals on the 1st quiz...However many decimals were in the problem, I used that in my answer. If the problem had one or two #s after the decimal point, that's how I entered it. In cases there wasn't a decimal in the problem, I used my best judgment & referred to practice problems.
If you haven't taken the quiz yet, Good Luck! It wasn't as bad as I was anticipating...I think Lab 2 was so much harder!
Anyone have any luck with Lab #3? I feel like I'm going in circles....
