ugh....i'm in my first quarter of pre-req's and already getting discouraged. not by bio but CHEMISTRY! the only class i could get into was a friday 10-2:40 class. 1 hr 30 min lab 2 hr 40 min lecture once a week. well my teacher only does one example for every problem, talks very fast, and gets through a lecture in just over an hour! how are we supposed to pass or even understand chem!?1?! im already discouraged and might have to drop the class.
Do not get discouraged so fast. Try to get a tutor or instructor assistant to help you through the course. If someone takes time to explain things to you I am sure you will feel more positive. Lectures are difficult sometimes because the professor goes through things so quickly. You could always audio tape the lecture (with permission from your professor) and that way you can go back and listen at your own pace. Many times during your pre reqs you will feel like this:uhoh3: but do not let yourself get down and Do not give up!
thanks!! i am going to start with the audio tape for sure! i have a study group tomorrow. the way the teacher is though, it's just not working!! he has an accent, talks way toooo fast, and doesn't use the full time we are suppost to be in class. and gives only one example of problems. i guess i'm going to have to start with a tutor bc i'm determined to get a B in this class!

Boy do I know that feeling. My sophomore year at my undergrad institution I took General Chem I--Aced the lecture, no sweat. I KNEW the stuff. But the 1 credit hour lab was a joke. The instructor had nearly 3 hours and spent the first two lecturing about stuff that was irrelavent. We would have no examples and were literally thrusted into the lab portion with not enough time to complete the labs! Well I had class afterward and during all the other lab sections so I did not have the opportunity to make up lab time! I eeked out of there with my lowest grade ever, a B-. The instructor only allowed ONE A out of the WHOLE class per assignment, and adjusted the grades down from there. I learned that from a grad student who was sweet on me :)
I feel your pain!!!

I know how you feel, I have also had a teacher with a heavy accent and talks fast, lectures hard to understand.
Just when i think its getting better the work gets more challenging.
next week we have a test on Stoichemotry and I am still trying to understand that, meanwhile she will already be moving on to new material for the lab tommorw.
