Chattahoochee Technical College ASN Fall 2017

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hello Everyone! I've found it super helpful and encouraging reading previous threads from Chattahoochee Tech's ASN hopefuls in the past. I was really hoping to start a thread for anyone who is planning on applying for Chattahoochee Tech's ASN program this Fall of 2017 - this way, we can share helpful information with each other and provide words of encouragement for one another. Anyone who wants to comment or ask any questions is more than welcome to! I hope that we all get in!!!!

We no longer have clinicals with CHOA. They don't allow ASN students anymore. No it won't be hard to get your BSN. We have multiple schools that come out and try to recruit us to their online BSN programs! There are tons of options. No problem! I had millions of questions when I was applying I totally understand!

Where do you do your pediatric clinicals at now that CHOA is magnet status? I'm pretty sure I want to go into pediatrics that why I'm wondering. Is they program fully accredited now? Thanks again! CTC is my 1st choice school.

CTC is fully accredited and they change each summer where people do clinicals for peds and OB. I am working a 4 day camp instead of doing peds clinicals but I know they have people going to wellstar paulding to their birth center and a couple other places. The summer semester is for OB and Peds and only 8 weeks long so they fit a full semester of classes in 8 weeks. most of the class decided to do the camp to free up some of the week. Choa just backed out this semester so they will have more clinical sites under contract for the classes after us.

Thank you for all your help!

I wish we had more people to comment. The last group were able to compare points and entertain each other while they played to waiting game. 2-3 weeks.

What was the points range from your class if you don't mind me asking?

Lol!! We did have a lot of people last year! And a lot of seniors helped out too. I'm not sure the exact point ranges. They didn't tell us at orientation. We didn't talk about it or compare after the fact, when we got in. I know about 350 applied and they accepted 50. I know there are a few people that got in the high 70s on their teas but had all A's so it helped and still got in.there are also people that did really well on their teas but had B's in classes and got in. So there is always a chance! And if someone doesn't get an acceptance letter right away (I got mine June 25) don't lose hope, some of the smartest people in our class got denied at first and then accepted later when there were open spots from people not accepting their spot! Sorry I don't know exact points :/

That helps the anticipation is killing me lol! Thank you!

Only a couple more weeks!! You've got this! Enjoy your summer and no school because when nursing school starts they own your schedule lol! Good luck!

Thank you and I will!!

Hi! My name is Alexis and I'm also a student in the program! Hey LC! lol.

I go to Grady for clinical too, but on a different day from LC so we have pretty different experiences. We have been doing our clinical in trauma med/surg but I see LC posted about SICU! Do you have some inside info about us moving to that floor in the fall?? That would be a really cool change for our last semester!

On my clinical day, we have multiple other schools on the floor so I have gotten to work with them and see what they can do, and because of that I am so glad I made the choice to go to CTC. We get to do so much more and our instructor is wonderful! There are 4th semester students there from other schools that cannot do half as much as we do by our second semester! And even one of the charge nurses for the floor would rather work with us, in our second semester, than new-hire BSN RNs because we are faster and more prepared! And that is all thanks to this program.

For our summer PEDS clinical, they are going to daycares, the health department, Wellstar Paulding OR, and Wellstar Paulding ER, or like was mentioned before you can go to a summer camp instead of those 4. I was so bummed when we lost CHOA, but we will still get a variety of experiences during PEDS, and some hospital time.

As far as points go, I was at 296 and was accepted, a friend was accepted with 271, and another girl in our class was originally rejected with 241 points but was then accepted once some seats were not claimed. But the low number can really vary a lot each year.

Good luck everyone! I can't wait to see all the new faces!

How are your clinical hours. Do they vary as well?
