Anyone go there for their prereqs? I'd love any advice/info you have on professors, classes, student support, financial aid, etc.
Thanks!
Hi,
This info is per the group advisement I attended a few weeks ago with the Nursing academic advisor:
ADN program application deadline: Jan 31, 2009 - Prereqs don't have to be done by time of application *(see below)
Req'd Prereqs:
ENG 1101
PSY 1101
MAT 1111
BIO 2113
BIO 2114
BIO 2117
The 6 prereqs listed above need to be completed by Spring 2009 for entry into the Fall 2009 ADN program. The last 4 listed cannot be more than 4 years old from the start date of the program, and you need at least a B in the 3 BIO classes (A&P I and II and Microbiology).
The 3 following classes are prereqs that can be taken while you are IN the ADN program:
SOC 1101
PSY 2103
SPC 1101
The TEAS is the entrance exam potential ADN candidates will have to take.
The advisor said they will be accepting 30 students for the Fall ADN program. Also, be aware that Chatt Tech is merging with Appalachian Tech and North metro Tech on July 1, 2009, so they are expecting a very competitive, large pool of applicants.
I hope this has helped!
Let me say, I am attending Chattahoochee right now and I have had nothing but wonderful professors!:yeah:I was thinking about their ADN program but it might not be on board even in Jan.'10, so do apply other places. I have been to numerous 3 different in the state and one online, they try hard to help but since the merger things have gotten a bit slower. We did get a new Micro professor which should help by adding more classes of Micro. I love the school but looking at GA Highlands as a matter of fact got to take SAT on the 1st of Sept and maintain the 4.0 and prayerfully I will be in at the first of 2010!

I don't think most nursing programs run background checks. I could be wrong, but I don't think so. The problem she might run into is being placed in clinicals or getting your nursing license. There are quite a few people in my BSN program who have DUI's, and they have not had any problems getting placed. The president of GA BON came and talked to our class the other day, and told us that DUI's would most likely not be a problem when we applied for our nursing license. No one can say for sure if she'll have any trouble, but I think she probably won't. They look for really bad things on background checks. Also, ask Chattahoochee what drugs are students not allowed to take while doing clinicals. The hospitals have you do drug tests, and I don't know if her sleeping pills would be a problem. Good luck!
