U.S.A. Louisiana

I just wanted to start a post to see if anyone has applied to Charity School of Nursing for Spring 06. Letters are supposed to be mailed at the end of June. If anyone has any info please let me know. I will do the same. :)

I got my letter today and I'm in!!! This is good news because I was turned down by OLOLC. I'm excited and scared at the same time.

Awesome! Congrats! Are you in the day or evening division?

Woo hoo, I will see you there!!! :balloons: :uhoh21: :p :balloons:

This has to be one of the most important times in my life! Maybe it wasn't meant for me to go to OLOLC.

Oh good someone else for evening :rotfl: ! Where do you live? I'm on the northshore. Do you know any details about the program? I picked up a fall bulletin yesterday and it looks like semester 3 classes start at 1 and 2 o'clock! i thought it was all in the evening.

anyway Congrats!:balloons:

no, i am not sure of any of the details of the program but think they will be sending out information soon. I live in Kenner.

You can get the same experience by volunteering (for free). I learned and got a chance to see it all in the ER of Touro Infirmary. They have an excellent volunteer program. I did get excepted into OLOLC and I know that the experience that I received from Touro helped. Plus, you want to add community service to your portfolio as it is important to your career and your personal growth. Good luck!

I started my hep shots in december so all I have left is the third one in june, but from the info I have received from someone in the LPN to RN class in June is that you have a lot to do in a short period of time. You have specific uniforms to buy and specific shots and medical tests you have to have done. I can't wait...actually I am tired of waiting and want to get that letter. I was turned down by OLOLC and I am working on my MBA, so getting accepted to Charity is important to me. First person to know something let me know, and like I said before, I will do the same.

On another note, I am taking a CNA and learning EKG and Phlobotomy this summer. I figure any way I can get some skills in to get the nerves under control before nursing school will be a plus in my book. I need some opinions: Do you think it is a good idea to spend almost $1000 right before nursing school on these skills? I'll have about 5 months to work before nursing school to practice those skills. Any opinion matters... well almost any opinion.

WE all have our stories, but your takes the cake. You are phenomenal. Best of Luck to you.

I understand what you are saying about the children and all. I have three chldren ages 9, 8, and 3. I am attending two schools at one time, one for nursing prereqs and the other for my MBA. I need the MBA financial aid to pay for nursing school. The only way I can do this right now is to not work and my husband, a police officer, makes very little money, but it is a sacrifice we have to make for now. I am off from one school for the summer, this is the only way I can take the extra classes.

I have a B.S. in Management and I am making a career change as well.

Thanks, when people say things like this, I get that extra nudge I need to press on. It isn't easy, but I know that I am on my way to finally having a career that will make me happy and give me a chance to make a mark on this world. You would be surprised to see the rest of my family(lunitics):uhoh3: :) . They mean well but are very discouraging saying things like, wait until the kids get older, you're too fat to be a nurse, you are going to miss out on the kids growing up...I figure as long as my fat a** can walk and talk I can be a nurse.

I am going to look into Touro. I am finishing up my little three week CNA course so I am going to look for a part time CNA job. If this doesn't work, I will volunteer. Thanks for the idea.

Hi Rah-Rah:

I am so proud of you and God do answer prayers . Keep up the good work because the spring of 06 will come in a blink of an eye. Nursing school is a two full-time jobs :crying2: .

I am starting my pre-reqs at Delago in the fall of 2005. Also have an appointment with one of the advisors at charity this month. I am very excited and anxious to see how many classes I need before I start.

Thanks,
